FOSTER FOOTBALL CLUB Inc.
President’s Report
I am pleased to present my President’s report to the Foster Football Club AGM covering our achievements both on and off the field in the 2019 season.
The current Committee members have worked tirelessly over the last 12 months to continue to maintain the highest standard that has been set in the management of the FFNC.
Our club also sets a requirement for making new members, players and families in the community feel most welcome while providing a safe and happy environment where anyone can come to participate and
enjoy their sport.
As a Club in a small Community we would not survive without the commitment of Committee members and volunteers who help week in & week out, rain, hail or shine to make game day run smoothly. I would like to acknowledge our volunteers who worked on the Gate, Canteen, Thurs and Sat night meals. Trainers ,Coaches, Umpires, Runners, Water boys and girls along with Scoreboard attendants, Time keepers, Team managers,
Ground staff and Bar staff.
To all of our sponsors who provide ongoing support to keeping our club operating we thank you for your contribution to local Community Sport.
It’s a credit to the Coaching staff that our Thirds, Reserves and Seniors made the 2019 Grand finas. Congratulations to our Senior Coach Brad Rooney with assistant Coaches, Nathan Grylls, Sam Davies and Richard Johnston who showed commitment while working hard with the playing group to improve fitness, team structures and game plans. To win the 2019 Senior Premiership for our club was well deserved for the effort the coaches and players put in to the year. We were also pleased to see some of our Juniors get the opportunity to play football at Senior level which is promising for the clubs playing future.
The Reserves were also able to win the Premiership being well led by Coach Wayne Sparkes and assistant Coach Rob Angwin. The improvement in numbers available each week and the players commitment to the Club is a credit to both of these Coaches.
Our thirds Coach, Billy Davey’s along with Scott Rathjen who helped with training, have done a great job to get the boys to the Grand final with limited numbers available each week and for the final series.
This year we entered our first Open Women’s team into the Pilates Women’s Gippsland league and they were able to make the finals which was a huge achievement. Coach Col Pulham was a big part of our women’s success in their first year.
Numbers were impressive and the club will continue to help promote woman in sport.
I’d like to make a special mention to our Trainers for this year. Ashley Angwin who is also our trainers Delegate for the league & for Thursday nights and every Saturday supporting all teams. Darcy Clearihan- Jervies who helped out game days Saturday also Sunday with the women’s team. Sonya Denbrok also joined us to be our trainer on away games for the Women. Mark and Sandra Bindings experience and commitment on Saturdays then again for home game Women’s certainly made our combined trainers a great team.
Our trainers are very important and have done a great job in taking care of our player’s welfare.
To all our First aiders and that helped get teams onto the ground each week we thank you also.
Social functions were well attended by players and supporters and we thank our social organizers for their new ideas and their willingness to make these nights a success.

President’s Report continued
To our Secretary Marilyn Flett, Vice President Peter Bohn and Committee members, Mal Davies and Ian Lyon I can not thank enough for their continued support over the year which has helped me grow confidence
in my second year as President.
The administration of all correspondence, Clubrooms bookings, Club management, Players needs with
Club Gear & Clearances, Minutes of meetings, Committee issues and interaction with the AFNL has been well handled by Marilyn in her Secretary’s role. Home games, Tania Rathjen entered our scores into the Sporting Pulse system and also typed notes to send to the local paper. Des Hansen also did a great job with game day management of teams & players.
Malcom Davies continues to work hard for the club in many areas including recruiting of players working on the Gate, Bar and Goal umpiring.
Treasurer Terri Bohn will detail our annual balance sheet, but I would like to place on record that her continual control of expenditure has been exceptional.
Peter Bohn again organised the 100-club dinner this year including 100 dollar draws throughout the year and a final dinner with a major prize. This was a huge success for our Club as was the Goods and Services
Auction organised by Peter and Terri Bohn with helpers. Peter filled in various roles on game days, and also worked in the Bar including organizing Bar staff for home games, Saturday and Sunday and all Social functions.
Our ground staff lead by Geoff McGraw continue to keep the ground in very good condition while putting in countless hours of mowing to keep the playing surface and surrounds looking neat and tidy. Geoff also keeps the Change Rooms spotless with a group of helpers. Steven Perks, has also spent many hours helping to keep the playing surface well-watered and also operates the line- marking machine for game day. This also takes a great deal of time but with the assistance of Des Hanson the ground always looked a picture. We also thank Sabastian Blancato for tractor work when the ground needs rolling or super spread around with back up provided by Chooka Howell.
Thank you to Rab Best for his organization of the Presidents lunch which continues to be a huge success for the Club with the introduction of Hall of Fame Members and Legends each year.
Sat night meals were well organised by Peter and Terri Bohn with the players that were rostered on to assist. Thursday night teas were well catered for by Karen Rathjen and her team of helpers.
Thanks also to Margaret Hilyear for her role in bar duties every week and her continued support of our club.
Special mention to Darren Lomax for his support behind the scenes as he continues to help with stocking of fridges and assisting with game day duties.
Foster Market BBQ’s have been a great fundraiser in our off season so thanks to all of our helpers on
these days
I would also like to acknowledge once again Nic’s McKenzie and the Netball department for their continued success over the 2019 season.
To anyone I have missed I thank everyone for your contribution over the year as our club moves towards
a positive direction in 2020.
