Netball R3 A Grade has started the season well with two wins and last weeks game was a big improvement on the first week. We welcome Tanya Hanley to the team.
B Grade has started well with 2 wins. To this team we welcome Kelsey Lacey & Trudi Manning. Both are great players and have fitted in well. Helen Daly has been the standout player in both matches.
C Grade After a shaky first week, they got their act together against Carisbrook to record a good win. New players are Helena & Jaimee McKenzie & Brooke Deason. Each week
Under 17 players will be rotated through the senior teams.
The Under 17 team has played good netball, but they let the match slip in the final quarter. Shannen Lacey is a new team member.
The under 15 comprises many young players who are starting to play better netball. New players are Caitlyn Billinghurst, Georgina Aqualina, Cassie Holmes, Brooke Stuart and Holly Tilihn.
Netball R4
A Grade has continued on their winning ways with a comprehensive victory over Maldon by 28 goals. Best players were Tanya Hanley and Wendy.
B Grade has certainly started their title defence well with a very good win. Kelsey Lacey & Helen Daly were the best players.
C Grade got up by 3 goals in a very close contest and they really teamed well and they were delighted with their efforts on the day.
The Under 17 team yet again played very good netball against last years premiers and just fell short by 3 goals. This is the second week that the girls have lost by a small margin and the signs are that they will be back winning matches.
The under 15 comprises many young players who are starting to play better netball but this week they came against a very strong team but they didn't stop trying. Best players were Stephanie Lierich and Caitlyn Billinghurst.
Netball R5
A Grade has continued on their winning ways with a comprehensive victory over Creek by 24 goals. Best players were Melanie, Michelle & Ash Lierich.
B Grade had a good win by 27 goals and they continue to play positive netball. Shannen Lacey, Demcy Gibbs & Kelsey Liddicoat were the best players.
C Grade got up by 36 goals in a great display and they really teamed well. Best players were Nicole O’Kane, Rachel Edwards & Brooke Deason.
The Under 17 team played very good netball and they registered their first win for the season by 14 goals. Best players were Ashlen, Shannen & Amy.
The under 15 comprises many young players who are starting to play better netball but this week they came against a very strong team but they didn't stop trying. Best players were Ashleigh, Cassie & Kylie.
The Dunolly Bakery Netball Report R6
The battle of the 2 undefeated sides in A Grade saw Dunolly win by 12 goals in a very strong performance. Best player was Ash Edwards in an even team performance. In B Grade it was a battle of the 2 top teams but Rovers won by 3 goals in a close and hard fought match. Best player was Trudy Manning. In another close battle C Grade got up by 3 goals in a great display and they really teamed well. Best player was Brooke Deason. Vicky said that there had been many positives to come out of three matches against Rovers.
The Under 17 team played very good netball and beat the previously undefeated Rovers side by 5 goals. Best players were Demcy, Kelsey, Shannen & Amy. The Under 15 came up against a strong Rovers team and fought the match out. Ash Lierich stated that our young girls are starting to play better netball.

The A Grade side won by 25 goals in a very strong performance and the best players were Jane King and Kelsey Lacey. In B Grade the team combined well to win by 24 goals. Best players were Helen and Trudy. C Grade put in there strongest performance of the year and they really passed the ball well to win by 38 goals. Best players were Helena and Rachel.
The U17’s played good netball but were again narrowly defeated by 3 goals. Best players were Demcy and Shannen. The U15 came up against a strong Rovers team but they really fought the match out.

The A Grade side won by 18 goals in a very strong performance and the best players were Jane King and Ash Lierich. In B Grade in a replay of last years grand final the team just fell a little short losing by 4 goals. Best players were Shannen and Kelsey. C Grade put in another strong performance and they really passed the ball well to win by 12 goals. Best players were Rachel Claire and Steph. The U17’s played good netball and won a very close encounter by 3 goals. Best players were Kelsey, Shelby and Amy. The U15 came up against a strong Harcourt team but they really fought the match out. In Netball there was no A Grade. In B Grade the team won by 49 goals. Best players were Kelsey and Claire. C Grade put in another strong performance and they won by a similar margin. Best players were Brooke and Helena. Both games allowed Vicky to experiment with player positions. The U17’s played good netball and won by 25 goals. Best players were Shelby and Shannen. Netball Report R10
The senior teams came up against a very determined and skillful Royal Park who won all three matches. A Grade side lost by 7 goals and the best players were Jane King and Ash Lierich. In B the team lost by 7 goals. C Grade lost by 2 goals in a very low scoring and tense match. Best players were Claire and Tiliesha. Saturday’s results may have come as a shock but the girls will come back hard. The U17’s played good netball and won by 22 goals. Best players were Shannen and Demcy. The U15 won their first game for the season by 11 goals and they were really excited after the match. Best players were Georgina and Stephanie.

The senior teams won all three matches. A Grade side won by 21goals and certainly the teamwork was very impressive and the best players were Jane and Ash. In B the team won by a huge margin and the best players were Vicky and Shelby. The C Grade got back to playing good netball and won convincingly. Best players were Tiliesha and Jaimee. The U17’s continued their recent winning streak and won by 23 goals. Best players were Shannen and Demcy. The U15 had a bye.

A Grade side won by 14 goals and certainly the teamwork was very impressive and the best players were Jane and Tanya. In B the team won by 17 goals and the best players were Kelsey and Clair. The C Grade lost but played some good netball but a few five minute lapses proved costly. Best players were Rachel and Brooke. The U17’s fought very hard against the strong Brook team and the best players were Shannen and Demcy. The U15 battled hard but in an even team effort found the Brook girls too strong. Katelyn and Brooke tried hard.

A Grade side won by 41 goals and in a very high scoring and dominant performance. The best players were Jane, Ash and Ash. In B the team won by 28 goals where the team passing was a highlight and the best players were Helen, Sarah and Clair. The C Grade won a very close match by 3 goals against a different Maldon combination. The team really worked well together and the best players were Tiliesha and Clair. The U17’s fought very hard winning a hard fought contest by 2 goals to keep alive their chances of playing finals. The best players were Demcy and Shannen. The U15 battled hard but in an even team effort found the Maldon girls too strong. Stephanie and Georgina were the best.

In Netball close contests were expected with both Dunolly and Rovers sides both being in prominent positions on the ladder and the matches were played on their home court. Our A Grade side won by 19 goals in a very dominant performance and the best players were Ash L and Clair. Our B Grade team defeated the previously undefeated Rovers by 8 goals in an outstanding performance and the best players were Kelsey and Demcy. The C Grade won clearly by 17 goals and they are certainly getting into form at the right time of the year. The best players were Tiliesha and Clair. The U17’s fought very hard winning a close contest by 4 goals to keep alive their chances of playing finals. The best players were Demcy and Kelsey. The U15 battled hard but in an even team effort found the Rovers girls too strong.
Netball R15
In Netball close contests were expected between Dunolly and Avoca. Our A Grade side lost by 6 goals in a very close match where injuries didn’t help and the best players were Ash L and Mel. Our B Grade team defeated Avoca by 8 goals in a match of a very good standard where the Avoca girls started well and we had to peg them back. The best players were Kelsey and Trudi. The C Grade won by 5 goals against the top of the ladder Avoca side. The best players were Steph and Helena. The U17’s fought very hard winning a close contest by 4 goals to keep alive their chances of playing finals. The best players were Demcy and Amy. The U15 battled hard to record a 7 goal win. Best players were Stephanie, Alisha and Ashleigh.
Netball Report R16
Our A Grade side won by 41 goals and the best players were Ash L and Jane. Congratulations to Jane King for shooting the most goals in A Grade. The B Grade netball side won by just three goals and the lead changed many times. The best players were Helen and Claire. The C Grade won by 29 goals and they demonstrated good teamwork. The best players were Tiliesha and Helena. The U17’s fought very hard but lost by 7 goals which meant that they just missed out on finals by percentage. The best players were Demcy, Shannen and Jade. The U15 battled hard but found Newstead too tough. Best players were Holly, Ashleigh and Cassandra. A big thank you to Ash Lierich who coached the Under 15 and 17 teams.
Netball Report (Finals 1st week)
Our A Grade side played Royal Park; they won by 4 goals in a tense and highly entertaining match. Jane scored 36 goals and Ash Edwards scored 10. The best players were Ash L and Tanya Hanley. Our B Grade team also played against Royal Park and they lost by just 1 goal. The scores were level at full time and after 12 minutes of overtime the girls went down by 1 goal. The best players were Helen and Kelsey while Sarah Reeves shot 22 goals and Vicky shot 18. The C Grade lost by 8 goals to Carisbrook. The best players were Stephanie Leggerini and Brooke Deason.
Netball Report A Grade into the Grand final
B & C Grade into the Preliminary Finals
In a near faultless display, the Eagles defeated Avoca by a comfortable 8 goal margin. Melanie rose and Ash Lierich made strong drives into attack to feed the goalies well. Jane King and Ashlee Edwards were on fire and rarely missed an opportunity to score despite strong defensive efforts from Alana Burge and Lauren Wedlick. Lucy Walkely was tireless for the Bulldogs in the centre and was making good space to create an option for Avoca but with Kelsey Lacey chipping in with some timely deflections for the reigning premiers; Dunolly led by four goals at half time.
The lead was pushed out to 7 at ¾ time with Avoca lacking options driving down the court. It appeared that the match could blow out the Eagle's way but the Bulldogs rallied and narrowed the gap to three goals. Avoca needed to goal off its centre pass but Tanya Hanley took a lovely intercept in front of Colleen Drummond to gain possession fro Dunolly. Edwards goaled and with Dunolly securing the next centre pass, the match was theirs. The Eagles have now booked their third consecutive grand final appearance. It was a tense and highly entertaining match with the goal shooting of Jane King who scored 45 goals out of the Dunolly total of 52 being a highlight. Ash Edwards scored 7.
B Grade Dunolly 35 defeated Avoca 27 in the First Semi Final
Avoca played a beautiful first half and looked like it was in command of the match. But a 13-6 third quarter by Dunolly gave it the upper hand heading into the last quarter. Claire Hocking gained many intercepts for the Eagles with Vicky Tierney and Sarah Reeves converting. Avoca rallied through some great defensive play by Sharon Reynolds and Bethany Rayner, but Dunolly's defenders also stepped up the pressure to deny the Bulldog goalies.
Dunolly has shown it can turn a match around in a quarter and with Hocking and Kelsey Lacey often providing valuable turnovers for the Eagles through the mid court. Vicky shot 25 goals while Sarah shot 15. The B Grade side will play Royal Park in the Preliminary Final.
C Grade Dunolly 33 defeated Harcourt 22 in the First Semi Final
Dunolly defeated Harcourt in their semi final win with a convincing 33 – 22 win. Dunolly held a 2 goal advantage at ½ time and the match looked like it would go down to the wire. But it was Dunolly's mid court player, Claire Richards, took some great intercepts to give Dunolly a few more scoring opportunities. Tiliesha Booth and Helena McKenzie were on song in the last quarter to pour on ten goals to one to seal the victory for the Eagles. Helena shot 17 goals and Tiliesha Booth shot16
MCDFNL Best & Fairest
Jane King and Ash Lierich finish runner up in the A Grade Netball Best & Fairest award
The award was won by Lucy Walkley of Avoca who polled 18 votes to defeat Jane King and Ash Lierich who received 17 votes by just 1 vote. Ash Edwards finished fourth with 14 votes.
Jane King wins A Grade Goal Shooting Award
Kelsey Lacey finishes third in the B Grade Netball Best & Fairest which was won by Jasmine Rimene of the Maryborough Rovers Football Netball Club. Kelsey received 16 votes and she is a young player with a great future in the sport. She also polled votes in A Grade as well. Trudy Manning finished in fourth position with 15 votes.
The Administrator of the Year was won by Vicky Tierney.
This prestigious award really capped off a great night for the club. It recognises the turn around that has occurred at the club over the last few years. Vicky has done an amazing job as Secretary and anyone who attended the Golden Era Reunion would have been equally impressed by her catering abilities.
Vicky has not only coached and played Netball at Dunolly but also undertaken the role of Secretary with great determination. Vicky worked extremely hard to ensure that Dunolly could play their host of prized recruits at the commencement of the season while busily preparing the Netball season at the same time. In addition to this Vicky has ensured that the Dunolly FNC received positive media coverage throughout the state, organizing many interviews and articles on the club to run in local and state media alike.
Netball Dunolly makes it back to back flags in A Grade
Dunolly has put in a stellar performance to defeat Avoca in the Maryborough Castlemaine District football Netball League A Grade Netball Final 53 to 45.
A fantastic effort by the girls in what was as a comprehensive and complete display of top class netball.
By half time, Dunolly had forged a handy lead and it appeared the Eagles could run away with the game. Positional changes for Avoca saw the Bulldogs come out firing in the third quarter and narrowed the margin to four goals with Brooke Bellenger finding range and Lucy Walkley driving through the midcourt.
Dunolly answered through Ashlee Lierich in the centre as she took five intercepts for the quarter which were converted by Ashlee Edwards and Jane King. Lierich’s influence steadied the match for the Eagles once again along with Tanya Hanley who also gained some timely intercepts in front of colleen Drummond.
Both sides lifted again in the last quarter and again Avoca made a surge for the lead but couldn’t get within six goals of the reigning premier. Ashlee Edwards was adjudged best on court in the grand final with her running game at goal attack giving her teams an option and also accuracy in the ring. Jane King scored an amazing 44 goals on the day while Ashlee Edwards scored 9.
Vicky Tierney has done a fantastic job as coach in winning the A Grade Premiership for the second time. How about a 3 Peat!
