The Golden Era
When it was proposed that the club should organise a reunion it can be said that the choice of the name was totally appropriate. It was indeed a “Golden Era for the Dunolly Club. The club’s effort in that 14 year period is inspiring.

1956 First Semi Dunolly 9 -19 -73 def Primrose 8 -11 -59
An outstanding feature of the game was the ruck work of Ron Deledio who was good all day but dominated in the 3rd term.

1957 Runners Up
1957 2nd semi Dunolly 15-13 -103 def Campbell’s Creek 9- 26 - 80
Inaccuracy in front of goal robbed Creek of any chance of winning the match against Dunolly. Dunolly lead by 20 points at ½ time. In the 3rd quarter Creek played all over Dunolly but ruined their chances by kicking 3 goals 12. Despite their inaccuracy Creek led by 2 points at ¾ time.

1958 Premiers
Preliminary Final Dunolly 10-16 -76 defeated Maldon 9-16-70
One of the biggest crowds at Campbell’s Creek for many years saw Dunolly and Maldon turn on a thriller in the preliminary final. Dunolly after trailing by 20 points at the last change, staged a brilliant recovery to snatch victory in the time on period.

Ron Deledio
In 1958, Ron realized his football ambition when he helped Dunolly win a premiership. Ron has played football for over 23 years, mostly for Dunolly, but a premiership win with that team had eluded him. In one of the highest scoring grand finals, Dunolly defeated Primrose by 28 points.

1960 Runners Up Reserves Premiers
The eclipse of Lacey, the Leagues Best and Fairest winner by Bob Constable played a big part in the win. Dunolly’s other stars Hunt, Maurice Watts, Tony Polinelli and Brian Coleman were well matched.

1961 Premiers
Carisbrook proved itself a big occasion side when it came away from Dunolly in the second half to win the second semi by 32 points. There was little in the game up to half time but Carisbrook pulled away in the last term.

1962 Premiers
The game was of a particularly good standard throughout, in fact it could go down as on of the best semi finals for a long time. It had all of the ingredients of a crowd pleaser- pace, hard hitting clashes, good teamwork and in addition the scores were close all day. Primrose paid Reg Gracie a tribute when he led the team onto the field, he has played over 200 games with the club for 13 years.

1963 Premiers
Former Magpie star Kevin Ryan landed his second successive premiership with Dunolly when the team defeated Carisbrook by 17 points.

1964 Runners Up
Carisbrook ended Dunolly’s run of District League Premierships when it scored a convincing 20 point win. After a fairly even first quarter Brook got on top through the outstanding play of Alan Shearer and from that stage they were never seriously challenged for the flag.

1965 Preliminary Finalist
One minute forty to play Dooly marked 40 yards out and he kicked the goal. Dunolly had many more chances but fell down in attack. Charlie Townsing in the ruck was outstanding.

1966 Preliminary Finalist
Early in the game Treble was dominating in the ruck and the Dunolly midfield did well. Heenan and Spiker were good in defence. However, when the high marking Palmer took over Rovers just dominated.

1967 Preliminary Finalist
Clive Heenan wins League Goal Kicking with 50 goals. Park gained the ascendancy when they kicked 5 goals 4 to Dunolly's 4 points in the first quarter. Heavy rain fell mid way through the second quarter restricted the Park big men. The wet allowed Lanfranchi and Graeme Polinelli to become fine players. Wallace who had been the dominant ruckman on the ground for Park was less effective in the wet.

Spectators found the wet and windy conditions very difficult. It was a hard slogging affair. At half time the scores were Primrose 2 . 4 . 16 Dunolly 1 . 4 . 10

1969 Premiers
It was a typical final atmosphere with both teams taking time to settle down. Play was fast in the opening stages, but the first goal did not come until the 12 minute mark when Ron Deledio kicked truly. Dooly quickly followed with another but cross got Newstead going with a goal. Dunolly were showing superior teamwork and when Beasy goaled they looked good. The Cross and O'Grady (N) goaled.
