The Avoca Football Netball Club wishes to advise that a number of members were recently recognized at the AGM with Life Membership of the Club for outstanding service rendered over many years.
Those recognized were Ron Beavis, Mick Wardlaw, Gary Wardlaw, Stacey Blair and Russell Neil.
Ron, Mick, Gary and Stacey have all played 300 club games and were awarded Life Membership for achieving this milestone.
Russell has given outstanding service as a committee member over many years and was awarded his Life Membership for his outstanding contribution to the club in many different areas.
The club would like to congratulate and thank all the recipients for their service to our club.
Certificates will be presented to the recipients early in the 2011 season.
Ron Beavis
Ron has played 351 games.
23 Senior games 267 Reserves games 61 3rd’s games
Ron first played in 1984 and played his last game in 2008 which included his 350th game.
23 years of service. Missed one year while in Darwin in 1997.
He is a Reserves premiership player in 1998.
Ron has also won numerous awards .
1994 – Reserves Most Improved
1995 – John Clohesy Memorial for Reserves Most Consistent
1999 – R/Up in Res B & F Winner of Res Goalkicking.
2000 – Res Best & Fairest. Winner of Res Goalkicking.
2002 – Res Best & Fairest

Ron was also Capt/Coach of the Reserves in 1999,2000, 2001.
Ron is also the current record holder for the most Reserves games played. 267
Ron has been an outstanding contributor to the club and is a very worthy recipient for Life Membership.
Michael Wardlaw
Michael has played 321 games.
245 Senior games 1 Reserves game 75 3rd’s games.
Mick first played in 1988 and finished in 2009.
20 years of service. He did not play in 2006 and 2008.
Mick has played in numerous premierships.

He could quite easily have gone on to bigger things with his good mate Julian Field, but chose to stay at Avoca and has been an outstanding contributor to the club and is a very worthy recipient for Life Membership.
Gary Wardlaw
Gary has played 316 games to date.
161 Senior Games 69 Reserves games 86 3rd’s games.
Gary first played in 1985 and is still currently playing.
He did retire in 1999, but played a number of games between 2000 and 2007 and has played for the past three seasons.
Approximately 20 years service.
Gary has played in numerous premierships.

Stacey Blair
Stacey has played 303 games to date.

Stacey first played in 1988 and apart from a couple of seasons off for maternity leave has played every season.
Approximately 20 years service.
She has played in Seven Premierships.

Russell Neil
Russell Neil has been a solid contributor to the Avoca FNC in many areas of the club for many years.
He has been a long serving committee member who is widely known as the Gate Keeper of the Avoca Football Netball Club on match days and then he backs up as the Senior Goal Umpire.
Russell has also been known to run the match day raffle and often runs the blackboard with the winning ticket number around the ground at half time.
He will then run the after match raffle in the Social Room and quite often has a stint behind the bar after the Senior football match.
He is also usually the first one to training nights and sets the sprinklers going during the summer months so that the oval is in tip top shape for pre season.
Russell is also the cleaner at the sporting facility and keeps the place in spotless condition.
Russell has been an outstanding contributor to the club in many areas over the years and is a worthy recipient of Life Membership.
