2013
After a slight improvement in season 2012, the club was looking forward to taking another step up the ladder, but it was not to be as we again finished in 8th position on the senior football ladder.
There was a marked improvement in the reserves who also played finals football, but with the recruitment of some key players including Murray Bond, Jesse Britton, Jayden Molloy and Tom Nankivell, the club felt we were better than a 8th position finish for our senior team.
The Under 17’s and Under 15’s both played finals and showed signs of improvement.
An Under 12 competition was introduced and our boys had an outstanding season playing off in the Grand final but going down to Campbells Creek by 29 points.
There was a number of milestone games played but the major milestone of season 2013 was the 500th game for Avoca by Trevor Field when we played Newstead on Saturday July 13th. An outstanding achievement for our club stalwart.
Anthony Neil also played his 300th club game vs Navarre on Sunday 5th May and received Life membership of the club.
Other milestones in 2013 were Ben Howell playing his 200th senior game and Carl Moser playing his 100th senior game.
Devon Svilicic, Nick Barker and Shaun Orr all played their 150th club games, while Adrian Pilgrim played his 100th game.
Best & Fairest for the fourth successive season was Lachlan Edwards.
