Season 2014
After making inroads into the top eight in the previous two seasons, Season 2014 was a big disappointment that saw both the senior & reserves team plummet down the ladder to both finish in 12th position.
It was a controversial start to season, when four time Best & Fairest winner Lachlan Edwards walked out on a contract, which was not well received by many who thought that once you sign a contract that you honour that contract. He was reluctantly cleared by the committee after much discussion.
The Under 17’s, 15’s and 12.s all played finals and the club were very happy that Daniel Howell won the MCDFNL Best & Fairest in the Under 15’s, while Taylor Kennedy also won the MCDFNL Best & Fairest in the Under 12 grade.
Gary Wardlaw played his 350th Club Game vs Royal Park on Saturday 26th July.
Other milestone players were Ricky Rogers playing his 150th game and the following players all played their 100th club games. Jay Armstrong, Darcy Carey, Cameron Holland, Joel Howell, Geoff Jolly, Blake Salmon.
While it was a disappointing season on the field for the Senior & Reserves Football teams, the club did have a reasonably good season as we were represented in the finals by nine of our eleven teams, with both the A & B Grade girls playing in the Grand Final. Unfortunately both were defeated by Navarre. The A Grade girls going down by ten goals and the B Grade girls losing by 4 goals, but it was a great effort by the girls, particularly the A Grade girls who finished in tenth position the season before.
Senior Football Best & Fairest was Alec Wiltshire
