The Fly Catcher
Whilst it is the author`s prerogative to cast aspersions about other football clubs, it should be said that Avoca`s record is not without blemish.
After a particularly impressive victory during the 1989 season, the avoca boys headed for Maryborough.
In a very short time their outing, reminiscent of a good old pub crawl, was starting to take its toll.
As the boys were staggering from one hotel to the next, Scott Lewis suddenly received an urgent call of nature.
Sadly, Scott was having awful trouble tracking down a suitable place to answer the call.
His prayers seem to be answered, just in the nick of time, when he spotted a shop entrance, which was slightly recessed of the main drag, High Street.
As Scott blissfully drained the pain, he was completely oblivious to a Police Constable, known as `the fly catcher`, who had emerged from the darkness, just in time to witness all.
A few hours in the lock up and a $100.00 fine has done wonders for Scott`s etiquette, or, translated for Scotty`s mates, done wonders for his personal behaviour in polite society!
