The Avoca Football Netball Club is blessed to have had one Wendy Robertson involved in our club since way back in 1961.
Our netball club was very lucky when Wendy Scott first became a part of our club way back in those early days.
Her involvement and leadership has seen our club enjoy much on and off field success.
Wendy was the netball club president from 1961 to 1965 and it was in this role of her leadership that helped to mould the success that our netballers enjoyed in the mid 60’s and early seventies.
During Wendy’s playing time with Avoca, she won the Club Best & Fairest four times and was Runner Up Best & Fairest on four occasions.
Wendy’s sister Janet also was a key player for the Bulldogs in that time having won Best & Fairest awards and also played in premiership teams alongside Wendy.
They both played in the 1967 & 1968 premierships and a number of other runner up teams.
Wendy was always involved at committee level and was Secretary for 8 seasons.
The knowledge of netball accumulated by Wendy over the years has been passed onto our playing groups when Wendy coached at both senior and junior level resulting in a number of premierships for the club.
Wendy was awarded Life membership back in 1987 for her contribution to our club and she has continued to be a role model for all at our club.
She has coached 8 club premierships for the club.
We are very grateful for the service that Wendy has given our club, but her dynasty continues through her Children and Grandchildren.
Wendy married our 1966 Best & Fairest footballer Max Robertson and they produced four netballers for the club. Nicole, Kylie, Jacinta and Stacey who have also been great contributors having all played in premiership’s and all figuring highly in Best & Fairest awards. Nicole and Jacinta moved away from town with their families, while Stacey and Kylie have remained in the district.
Nicole and her husband Robert live in Mildura but their daughter MIkaela Fraser joined the Bulldogs last season and was the Runner Up Best & Fairest in the A Grade premiership team.
Stacey has continued in her mother’s footsteps and is our most highly decorated player today. Playing in over 450 games and having won numerous Best & Fairest awards at club and League level, and is also a Life Member of the club. Stacey and her husband Mark Blair have continued the bloodline with Campbell and Aidan both playing football and Shayla commenced her netball last season and young Milla will join the netball ranks in time to come.
Kylie moved to the Natte-Bealiba club back in the 1990’s where her husband Andy is a passionate club member Kylie has played over 400 games for the Swans and has also been involved heavily in administration and coaching. (played 84 games for Avoca)
Kylie and Andy have produced a number of son’s and daughters who have all enjoyed success with the Swans .
So the Avoca FNC and the Natte-Bealiba FNC can be very thankful that Wendy and Max Robertson tied the knot way back in the 1960’s.
The 2019 Grand Final day was a very happy day for Wendy and Max, with Stacey and Mikaela winning the A Grade netball Premiership with Avoca and Grandson’s Trent, Jye and Zac all winning the football Premiership with Natte-Bealiba.
