It's acknowledged by social commentators and members of the wider community that team sports play a significant role in ensuring a fit, healthy, harmonious society. The Seymour Football Netball Club has a proud on- and off-field sporting tradition that contributes to the well being of the local community.
The Seymour Football Club was founded in 1880, and has been a highly successful and well-respected football club over the past 120+ years. The Club has won 21 major league senior Premierships. More importantly it has played a vital role as a key contributor to the physical, mental and social wellbeing of the community to which it belongs.
The Club's survival is essential to Seymour; it's one of the single most important unifying forces in the local community because it connects people, providing a sense of shared identity and belonging.
The Seymour Football Netball Club's direction is to clearly identify the objectives and goals that we must achieve by providing a structure representing the needs and aspirations of our players, members and volunteers, and of the community of Seymour itself.
As a sporting club, the Seymour Football Netball Club's number one priority is to continue to exist in the strong Goulburn Valley Football League competition by fielding strong, competitive football and netball teams.
However, ensuring the survival of our Club will always be a challenge. Success on the football field or the netball court requires significant revenue, the loyalty of players, members and supporters, the dedication of volunteers and, above all else, the support of the local community.
In financial terms alone, a country football club competing in a major league can require a minimum revenue in excess of around $200,000 per annum for it to operate effectively and field competitive teams.
Running the Club and ensuring its financial security and viability can be all the more challenging because the entire football club is run by a dedicated group of volunteer workers.
Sponsorship from local businesses, club memberships and wider community support are vital to all sporting organisations in the Seymour community. The Seymour Football Netball Club continues to look towards a future of on-field success and off-field commitment to its supporters and the local community. This mission can only be achieved with your support.
To all present and future sponsors and to all club members: your support and commitment to the Seymour Football Netball Club helps us to maintain our proud tradition. Continue your commitment and success will follow.
