CELEBRATING VOLUNTEERS IN CLUB FOOTY
The time has come again for clubs and leagues to nominate their outstanding volunteers for the WorkSafe Country Footy Volunteer of the Year for 2012.
As we all know, volunteers are the lifeblood of our sport, and we all have volunteers that go above and beyond the call of duty at our clubs.
Look around at who is doing the work at your club today;
Was there a familiar face on the gate that has been there for years?
A person in the canteen that has served your pie to you since you could only just see over the counter?
What about the team manager that knows every kid, parent and sibling by name?
Who was the first to arrive?
Who will be the last to leave?
Recognising your club volunteers with a nomination in the 2012 Country Footy Volunteer of the Year Program is a great way to give them a pat on the back, and another way for you to show them that you value the service they have given you. Make a fuss over them – even though most are happiest working out of the spotlight!
All nominations in the VCFL Country Footy Volunteer of the Year Award will be recognised with a certificate of thanks that can be presented to the volunteer at your club presentation night or AGM.
The winner of the 2012 WorkSafe Country Footy Volunteer of the Year will win a suite of prizes, and the volunteer’s club will receive a $2000 voucher from VCFL FootyMart to purchase new equipment for the club.
It is very easy to nominate your club stalwart, enthusiastic committee person or tireless club worker for this award. Just go to the VCFL website or the VCFL Facebook page and look for the links and fill out the quick online form.
Previous winners of the prestigious award include Ron Trimble from Newbridge Football Netball Club for his services steering the club through the flood crisis, Leonie Griffiths from BalranaldFNC who connected the local community with the football club with a massive Pink Footy Day, and Bill Kuys who over many years rebuilt and guided Emerald FNC out of a tenuous position to be the first Gold Standard Quality Club in Victoria.
Country football doesn’t just happen – it takes the efforts of thousands of volunteers every week of the year to put on what you see today.
More than that, these volunteers are giving their precious time to create a place for our kids and our community to gather, to learn, to celebrate, and to support one another.
Those who can, do.
Those who can do more, volunteer.
Go to www.vcfl.com.au or search VCFLFooty on Facebook to nominate now.
