Mooroopna held out a determined Euroa side at Memorial Oval on Saturday to win by five goals in wet conditions.
Another Euroa player again went down during the week with last year's Best & Fairest Marcus Varley breaking his foot against Seymour.
Undermanned yet again, the Magpies played disciplined football, following coach Scott Watson's game plan to the letter, which allowed them to be within striking distance at all times.
As the game wore on though, Mooroopna's class proved to be the difference with Damian Yze kicking 8 goals despite Travis Burls' close checking at all times. Yze's straight kicking was a highlight of the game, however Trav never gave him an easy kick all day.
Up forward for Euroa, Scott Day was doing well and was aided by Bamford and Cunningham. Day kicked 2 for the day, whilst Cunningham scored his highest goal tally to date with 5 in a great all-game effort. This was achieved despite the forwards playing 2 short for most of the day with loose players moving upfield to clog the Cats forward line.
Another one of those frustrating days where the boys were so close, yet so far. Burls battled hard in the ruck with Berry, whilst Durbridge, Watson, Parker and Giovannini did well.
This week we take on Benalla at Benalla showgrounds and if we take our chances and play well we can get our second win of the season.
