Werribee Centrals B, C & D Grade sides all played in the preliminary finals on Saturday in Geelong & District netball and won the right to join their A Grade teammates in the Grand Finals this week.
B Grade
Werribee Centrals 25 V Anakie 24
This was a great game to watch with Centrals having the better first quarter but then relaxed in the second and allowed Anakie to take control of the game. Centrals were five goals behind going into the last quarter. Millie Hudson came back into the game and fired up the whole team with good interceptions in Centrals defence. Centrals were back in the game as Emma Maycock had a strong last quarter as well. Amanda Nielsen shot the much needed goal in the final minute putting Centrals up by a solitary goal.
Best: M Hudson, E Maycock, B Karlecik & L Stewart
C Grade
Werribee Centrals 32 V Thomson 21
Centrals started the game full of confidence right from the first whistle. Emma Fitzgerald was dominant in the centre court as was Brooke Short in the goal defence position. Ellie Tubbs combined well with Tania Redpath in goals and outclassed their opposition. Centrals rotated their bench with all nine players contributing all game.
Best E Fitzpatrick, B Short, T Redpath.
D Grade:
Werribee Centrals 46 V North Geelong 22
After a disappointing game last week D Grade were fired up with Mellissa Bragg in goal attack playing an awesome game in goals with Shanade Tronson. Katie Potts (GK) played her best game of the season getting her hands to every rebound. Mel Praed (GD) was also one of Centrals best this week as was Katelin Genge who had a field day in the wing defence position before she was sidelined with a knee injury. Centrals claimed every quarter with all seven players on the court at their best.
Best: M Bragg, K Potts & S Tronson.
This weekend is Grand Final day and Centrals have all four senior grades in the Grand Finals. A Grade trying to win back their crown. Games are at St Albans Reserve St Albans Road, Geelong from 11.30am.
