It was the Williamson Gillett Cup game against Anakie and a must win for Centrals after a disappointing game against Geelong West last week. Centrals as they have been able to do brought their A Game in the first quarter and started well and continued into the second kicking six goals in both and keeping their opposition well held to half time. After the main break Josh Sloan continued to play well in the ruck against Anakies GDFL Interleague ruckman and give our centre square players plenty of opportunities with Blake Taylor, Matt Smith & Matt Miller all having good games. Anakie continued to push and Centrals allowed them to outscore them in the last quarter but the game was well and truly won.
Final Scores:- Werribee Centrals 19.9– 123 to Anakie 10.8 - 68
Goal Kickers:- D Chesterman 3, N Bauld 3, B Taylor 3, M Camilleri 3, B Wilson 2, D Skinner 2, J Sutton & M Smith 1 each.
Best Players:- M Smith, J Sloan, B Carlton, M Miller, J Sutton & B Taylor.
The Reserves in a game they should have been able to win and cement a finals spot looked flat and played the same way to be well beaten. Poor kicking for goal and around the ground did not help their cause. There will be a few very disappointed players in that performance.
Final Scores:- Werribee Centrals 3.11 - 29 to Anakie 6.5 – 41
Goal Kickers:- D Brierty 2 J Drohomirecki 1.
Best Players:- M Alush, D Brierty, A Picone, D Drohomirecki, L O’Malley & S Weatherly.
Next week its back home against Winchelsea and a must win for both seniors and reserves now, see you there
