This game against Winchelsea was again a must win for both sides to stay in the finals hunt. Winch started with the big Mark Blake in the ruck and he was giving them first use of the ball but the hustle of the younger players was getting the ball back and with goals to J Sloan & Blake Taylor after a very crude bump Centrals had the start they wanted. Winch though got them straight back with two of their own and were still getting lots of drive from the work of Blake. It was Centrals running players in Tito Nyawela and Taylor who were giving them headaches though.
At the start of the second the rain came and it was a different ball game as the slippery ball was hard to mark and it was then the stronger bodies of the Winch players seemed to get the upper hand and they went in at half time with a 9 point lead.
With a few position changes Centrals started well with Zac Anthony haing an influence up forward, yes up forward as he kicked three goals but it never seemed enough as Winch always pushed back hard and it was 4 points at the last change.
The last quarter opened up with a flood of points from both sides but suddenly Centrals had three quick ones and the momentum it seemed, but no Winch had other ideas and hit back to get back to within a goal. As we have seen a few times this year the boys just never gave up and with goals to Koutzamanis, Tito and Boydy we were home and only one win away from a finals spot. The coach was again impressed with the pressure in the last quarter which will only help us as we go to next week. Perhaps its time we will only know in a weeks time.
Final Scores:- Werribee Centrals 15.10 – 100 to Winchelsea 10.13 - 73
Goal Kickers:- T Nyawela 3, Z Anthony 3, C Koutzamanis 2, D Boyd 2. J Sloane, D Chesterman, J Smith, N Bauld & B Taylor 1 each.

The Reserves with only four points separating the sides on the ladder should have been a close game you would have thought. It was not to be as Winch started well and held sway all day to run out winners by 50 points. They were fitter and faster and our boys struggled to get into the game at all. A couple of the Colts played up again and young Zac Johnson showed nerve when he kicked a big goal his first in senior footy.
Final Scores:- Werribee Centrals 6.6 – 42 to Winchelsea 14.8 – 92
Goal Kickers:- C O’malley, Z Johnson, M Camilleri, C Gusling, S Weatherley & L O’Malley 1 each.
Best Players:- D Skinner, J Despott, M Mathiang, L Gibbs, A Briggs & T Ralph.
