Centrals after playing the top team last week were up against Corio a team closer to them on the ladder and were expecting to bounce back a little. Corio as normal had their Past Players Day and were having a big fundraising day for Freeze MND so needed to be ready to start well. It was a very even start with Steve Morgan dominating the centre bounce and a new player in Daniel Delaney prominent off the half back line. Even though Centrals had most of the ball costly turnovers with errant kicking proved costly allowing Corio to be right in the game at quarter time. The second quarter was very similar with good work spoiled by bad disposal still keeping Corio close behind. Ethan Turner playing forward was focal for Centrals with 5 goals.
The game opened up a little in the third with Centrals runners in the Wilson twins, Anthony Briggs and Daniel Boyd finding plenty of the ball, Dion Lawson still controlling the game as he always does. This allowed Centrals to find a break on the scoreboard and be ready for the last.
The game had been played at pace but slowed as the last quarter progressed allowing centrals to kick away and record a solid win.
Final Scores:- Werribee Centrals 20.14 – 134 to Corio 11.14 - 80
Goal Kickers:- E Turner 6, B Wilson 3, C Wilson 3, D Boyd 2, D Lawson 2, A Briggs 2, S Killender & D Knight 1 each.

The Reserves were always going to struggle when four players pull out on game day and you are left with too few to have a bench. Thanks to those who did fill but the team was behind the eight-ball from the start. It didn’t stop them from have a real go but the loss of Jake Chamberlain who was playing well with injury early in the game only made it a little harder. Being only three goals down at the last change they had tried hard but just ran out of steam in the last.
Final Scores:- Werribee Centrals 5.5 – 35 to Corio 13.11 – 89
Goal Kickers:- J Amore, L O’Malley, L Gibbs, B May & K Baghdassarian 1 each.
Best Players:- K Baghdassarian, L Gibbs, A Foster, M DeLuca & J McLindon.
The Colts played Geelong West in a battle for second spot and held sway all day even though there was not much scoring done after half time. It was a good test for the boys as finals start next week.
Final Scores:- Werribee Centrals 9.8 – 62 to Geelong West 6.2 – 38
Goal Kickers: J Fletcher 3, Z Cachia, J Sutton, D Skinner, C O’Malley, D Chesterman & Z Anthony 1 each
