Centrals were looking for a win as they come up to a period when they are playing non final five teams for a few weeks in a row and even though playing Corio at Corio which is always tough a win was not out of the question. Centrals started well with Luke Cachia kicking the first goal but Centrals were getting caught out by the long kicking of Corio into their forward line. Centrals kicking six goals for the quarter should have looked on top but Corio also managed three with minimal forward thrusts. The defense would need to improve if the game continued in this fashion. The second quarter Centrals goaled through Cachia, L O’Malley & T Montebruno but again Corio were allowed to penetrate and reply. As the defense tightened up Centrals started to put some distance on Corio to lead by 41 points at half time.
Corio attacked at will in the third and Centrals were saved by their inaccurate kicking but the margin got back to 20 points before Boyds great running goal put some distance between the sides. Corio could smell a win at home in front of their past players and kicked the opening goal and it seemed Centrals had dropped off the pace before letting Corio kick another to make thing pretty tight. When Centrals did go forward the delivery was terrible which made it very hard for the forwards but again Luke Cachia under pressure took a pack mark and kicked his seventh and when Matt Boyd kicked his third Centrals were safe and home by 40 points. Not a pretty win but a win and a lot of work before next week to be done.

The Reserves started the day off in very wet and cold conditions and early goals in the wet were to prove to be valuable as by end of each quarter it became a bit of a slog. Centrals started the same in the second quarter through DeLuca & Hardingham scoring 3 quick goals and set up a handy lead at half time. Another early goal in the third and Centrals looked home but Corio came back hard with three and only seven points difference at last break. The last quarter was tough battle as both sides fought for the win and a goal to Centrals and behinds to Corio really was the only difference.
