Centrals after a disappointing display last week against Bell Post Hill were looking forward to playing much better against another finalist from 2013 in Winchelsea. Centrals started well and quickly had Winch on the back foot as they won the centre with Steve Morgan dominating the ruck and Matt Smith at his feet mopping up well and getting the ball forward. Centrals speed, great disposal, backing each up and the pressure being applied on the Winch players was first class and they quickly had four goals on the board against the breeze whereas Winch could not score against a solid defence who worked the ball well and rebounded at every opportunity. It certainly looked a different Centrals side from last week. If not for poor kicking Centrals could have easily been 6-8 goals up at half time.
What happened next was unbelievable it was like as if a different side came out after half time as they allowed Winch to dominate the ball, there was no real pressure applied, the disposal by both foot and hand dropped off even so much as to have two kickins go straight to the opposition only metres from goal. Winch just ran where they wanted and were creating opportunities by the dozen and would have been even bigger winners if they had kicked straight. Centrals did not have many players who could have said they gave their all and it will be a big job for the coaches to get a much bigger effort from the team in a weeks time.

The Reserves continued their improvement with a solid win away from home against Winchelsea and again with a couple of new faces in David Kennedy back from up bush and Dane Camilleri who both acquitted themselves well. It was the longstanding players in Peter Grey and Matt DeLuca who shone out up forward and another solid game from Nick Byrne helped the side home to a good win. With a few more youngsters also to be blooded in coming weeks the Reserves will be looking for a few more wins.
