Werribee Centrals last remaining footy side in finals were the U 18s Div 2 Colts side who finished on top of the ladder and after being soundly beaten by geelong West last week were in the preliminary final against Bell Park who they had beaten twice during the year by 1 & 2 points, so Centrals were looking forward to a rippa game.
Centrals started well and kept with bell Park for the majority of the first quarter but two late goals to bell park allowed them a small lead. For the next two quarters Bell Park ran harder and with a couple of lucky breaks opened up a good lead to the last break. Coach Fab Gatti asked his runners in the last to stay on the ground and stay in the play and try and get some of the momentum back and this they did but could just not make up the difference.
The club is really proud of this playing group who if they played in the old GDFL competition would have been the best side in it but due to the new Colts Divisions played against sides from higher competitions and accounted for themselves very well.
The club would also like to really thank Fab Gatti and his coaching staff for their time and experience put into the boys in 2012. Its greatly appreciated and they will take this wisdom with them into senior ranks in 2013 and be better for it.
Final Scores:- Werribee Centrals 6.2 – 38 to Bell Park 11.9 - 75
Goal Kickers:- M Gatti 2, J Wilson 2, B Wilson & A Foster 1 each.
Best Players:- C Chesterman, J Cailes, S Masoe, L Cachia, M Gatti & J Wighton.
