.
A Grade
Werribee Centrals 61 v. Belmont Lions 24
It was a slow start for the Centrals A Graders with key players absent this week and it was Emma Maycock & Nicole Stewart that stepped up to the plate. Emma Maycock provided plenty of drive down the centre court and was equally backed up with the skills of Nicole Stewart. Centrals put on the pressure all over the court and played intense netball for 4 quarters. Jenni Gardner was on fire again in goals this week shooting 43 goals for the game. Centrals defence played tight and were able to rebound Belmont's missed shots at goal on numerous occasions. With a few positional changes made going into the final quarter Centrals were once again to finish off strongly.
Best: Nicole Stewart, Emma Maycock, Jenni Gardner
B Grade
Werribee Centrals 43 v. Belmont Lions 24
Centrals B Grade had a rocky first quarter with dropped passes caused by no voices on the court and no over the ball pressure. Going into the 2nd quarter it was up to Natalie Ramsdale to step it up a notch and bring her players into the game. Melaea Fonua put in a fine effort in defence for Centrals working hard all game to gain some control over the Belmont goalers. Amanda Nielson (GA) played steady and managed to settle the attack end. Centrals B Grade took out the 2nd quarter with ease and this seemed to settle the whole team down. With a good rotation of their bench Tania Redpath picking up the WA position in the final quarter creating plenty of space for herself and feeding the ball fast and accurate into Ellie Tubbs in goals.
Best: Natalie Ramsdale, Amanda Nielson, Melaea Fonua
C Grade
Werribee Centrals 44 v. Belmont Lions 14
The play was very unsettled during the first quarter for Centrals C Grade with silly mistakes being the major cause. Centrals C Grade had some good passages of play but lack of discipline let them down. Centrals C Grade were more competive during the second half with Samantha Knight, Alison Ashley & Leigh Stewart working hard all game in defence and proving to be a great defence combination. Megan Hill dominated the centre court proving to be too strong for her opposition. Centrals C Grade lifted their game in the final quarter with all players on the court just playing some good netball.
Best: Samantha Knight, Alison Ashley, Rily Dorgan
D Grade
Werribee Centrals 42 v. Belmont 21
Centrals set off to a great start with Clarissa Melilli sensational in goals scoring 29 for the game. Meg Noonan also played a great game this week and proves to be a strong combination working in goals with Clarisssa Melilli. Another good performance from Sarah Clarke who puts in 100% to whatever position the coach asks her to play. A Great effort from all Centrals D Grade who are just improving from week to week.
Best: Clarissa Melilli, Meg Noonan, Alison Ashley
U17's
Werribee Centrals 58 to Belmont 8
Centrals U17's were just too strong all over the court even with the inclusion of three Under 15's players this week and with Meg Cunningham having a great game working alongside Sarah Clarke in defence for Centrals. Alyce Daniels controlled the centre court whilst all 3 goalers capitalised on their shots at goals. Clarissa Melilli is having a great season so far and is putting the goals on the scoreboard for Centrals. Rebecca Harris stepped up from the U15's and proved her worth around the centre court. Centrals U17's played a high standard of netball and kept up the momentum right to the end.
Best: Alyce Daniels, Meg Noonan, Sarah Clark
Next week Centrals have the bye due to VCFL Interleague commitments but the next game against Bell Post Hill at galvin Park on 4th June will be worth the time to come along and watch.
