Werribee Centrals Netballers started off 2011 with good wins against Geelong West in windy conditions even though the scoring may not have indicated this.
A Grade - Werribee Centrals 58 v. Geelong West 24
First game of the season proved to be a fairly easy run for the A Graders with Danni Stewart controlling the centre court all game. There were some great passages of play during the first and final quarter. Jenni Gardner played a great game in defence for Centrals alongside Amanda Wilson. Mickayla Ward was in fine form shooting 36 goals for the game. Natalie Ramsdale put in a good performance as WD. Centrals cruised home to claim the win.

B GRADE -Werribee Centrals 35 v. Geelong West 17
With a line-up of 11 players Centrals B Grade took off to a good start. New Recruit Anna Pattison (WD) was influential around the centre court with her strong drives down the court and accurate passing into the Centrals goalers. Centrals defence worked hard with new recruits Emma Richards & Meleae Fonua proving to be a strong combination in defence. All players worked tirelessly around the court to bring home the 4 points. Amanda Nielson was best of the Centrals goalers today shooting consistently throughout the game.

C GRADE - Werribee Centrals 44 v. Geelong West 30
Centrals C Grade played 4 consistent quarters of netball with Lauren Jessup one of the standouts with her accurate shooting helping Centrals take an early lead. Megan Hill was dominant in the centre court and was one of Centrals best on court. Melinda Dobai played a strong game in defence and created plenty of drive down the court.

D GRADE - Werribee Centrals 40 v. Geelong West 34
Centrals D Grade team is almost a completely new side. New recruit Samantha-Ann Knight played a sensational game in the centre court and was Centrals best on court. New recruits Sinead Tormey, Brooke Yomelos, Andrea Beasley & Louise Carlton all worked hard on court. Centrals gaolers in Clarissa Melilli & Meg Noonan combined well and were able create some space inside the goal circle. Centrals were 3 goals down going into the final quarter but with all 7 players on the court stepping it up a notch Centrals D Grade were able to win by 6 goals. A Great achievement for the first game of the season and with so many new recruits on court.

U17’s - Werribee Centrals 46 v. Geelong West 1
It was a strong U17 combination who from start to finish played some great netball. New recruit Paris Makenzie was awesome in defence proving to be too strong for the West goalers. Samantha-Anne Knight dominated in the centre court backed up by Alyce Daniels. Clarissa Melilli & Meg Noonan were a great goaling combination. An easy win for the Centrals U17’s.

U15’s - Werribee Centrals 37 v. Geelong West 7
Centrals U15’s were all fired up and started strongly. New recruit Holly Ellul was in fine shooting form and other new recruits Madi Hayes and Rebecca Harris proved themselves to be great additions to this U15 Line-up. Anoher new player Tayla Melilli played a great game in WD position as well. An easy win for the U15 Centrals side.

Next week Centrals Netballers will be at Galvin Park Shaws Road Werribee to play in front of their home crowd.
