Centrals played last year Premiers in Thomson and were looking for revenge after their unexpected defeat in last years Grand Final and this they did with a clean sweep of wins.
A Grade Won - 71 to 8
After last years loss in the grand final against rivalry side Thomson Centrals wanted to come out on top. Centrals were able to start strongly having a 13 goal lead going into the 2nd quarter. Centrals continued to dominate all over the court with defenders Ash Depetro and Amanda Wilson continually shutting down Thomson’s goalers. Mid court player Natalie Ramsdale stepped up from B grade causing many turnovers for Thomson with her great defensive pressure on the centre start. All players put in a 100% with a great team effort all over.
Best Players: Ash Depetro, Emma Maycock, Natalie Ramsdale.
B Grade Won - 59 to 9
B Grade started a bit slowly but quickly pulled it together with all players putting in 100% in the hot weather conditions. All goaling combinations worked great with the defence end working just as hard to pull in loose balls and intercept balls coming down the court. The centre court gelled better this week allowing the ball to flow down the court and into the goal ring. A great training session Thursday night paid off.
Best Players: Ann Tedesco, Melanie Cuthbert, Tania Redpath.
C Grade Won - 61 to 9
After the draw against Nth Geelong last week Centrals knew they had to come out strong and determined to come away with a win. Emma Hounsell and Kimberley Genge started off well in goals with great feeding from Stacey Flack and Olivia Burrows. Centrals defence was strong with Emma Fitzgerald and Alison Ashley working well together. All players gave everything and in the end it was great to come away with a win.
Best Players: Stacey Flack, Emma Fitzgerald, Olivia Burrows
D Grade Won - 61 to 10
A strong start from the first whistle by all Centrals players. Defensive combinations with Katie Potts and Laura Gatti were too strong for the Thomson goalers holding them to just 1 goal in the 1st quarter. New recruit Lauren Jessup combined beautifully in the goal ring with Shanade Tronson. Melissa Schollick in WA provided some fantastic passes into the goal circle. With a lot of positional changes in every quarter all players used their time to make suer of the win. A well deserve win by a new team coming together and improving each week.
Best Players: Laura Gatti, Shanade Tronson, Katie Potts
Next Saturday Centrals again play away this time at Belmont in Geelong in what should be some tougher games. Well worth the trip down the freeway
