NEWTOWN & Chilwell’s gusty win over St Albans has come at a cost, with Scott Condy, Nelson Browne and Tom Herbert all suffering injuries in the 13-point win.
Condy has a suspected broken wrist, Browne a finger injury and Herbert an ankle issue.
Throw in Brock Bouch (back) being a late withdrawal, Jesse Malthouse returning to Werribee and Timm House being called-up to the Geelong VFL team on Friday afternoon on, and it’s no surprise coach Damien Christensen was hailing his team’s charatcer.
“I thought St Albans played really well, to be honest,” he said.
“They really tested us across the ground, but we found enough to get over the line.”
Condy, Browne and Herbert won’t played against North Shore this week, while star midfielder Jarrod McCorkell is also likely to be rested.
“Jarrod’s done a power of work. He’s played sore for a number of weeks now,” Christensen said.
“We’ve just got to be mindful of his body and getting him through a season.”
In better news for Newtown & Chilwell, Tim O’Keefe and Jake Anderson both returned through the reserves on Saturday.
Daniel Goodwin and Nathan Braddock are also a chance to take on the Seagulls, while Tim Brown is also close a to a return.
The Eagles are hopeful captain Dan Feery will return following the GFL break in early July.
