GEELONG Football League interleague coach Glen Wallace is "hopeful" former AFL stars Brad Ottens and Max Rooke will make themselves available for representative duties later this month.
Wallace announced his squad yesterday, but said he had not heard whether Ottens and Rooke would pull out of the squad.
"I haven't been able to make contact with all three (including Ryan Gamble) of them. They are very much hit and miss," Wallace said.
"I am hoping (they play), and in particular with Max Rooke it will depend on his body.
"Having Russell Robertson last year really brought something to the group. Ottens and Rooke are in the mould (former AFL champions)."
Wallace has assembled an exciting list of players for the interleague matches that start on May 26, with each GFL team having at least one representative in the squad.
"We are really happy with the squad. There are 10 or 15 players who have come into the league that could easily replace the five players that pulled out last year," he said.
"Every club deserves to have those players in there. There is no one that has been included just to say we have a representative from each club."
St Mary's and South Barwon both have seven players selected in the squad, while reigning premier Bell Park has six. Grovedale (one), North Shore, Colac and Geelong West-St Peter's (all two), have minor representation.
A development squad, with 10 of the league's best youngsters, has also been announced. The squad will train with the interleague squad and if performances merit it they can be called into the senior team.
