Hello all Eagle supporters, coaches, players, family and friends.
Round One of Junior Footy kicked off on the weekend with 13 games involving our Newtown & Chilwell Football teams.
We were fortunate enough to be involved in nine wins, three losses and one draw, but more importantly almost 200 boys and girls represented our club - some enjoying their very first game of footy.
A special welcome to all the new people to our club and a big thank you to those who have taken on coaching roles for the first time this year. They include;
- Ross Celi, a former junior premiership player, who has taken on the Under 14 second side – great to have you around again Ross.
- Justin Robinson and John Waddick who have taken over the reins of the Under 10 black team.
- Paul Ellingham who is looking after the Under 9 red team.
- Trent Walerys who is steering the ship for the Under 9 black boys.
- Kane Purcell has taken over the Youth Girls team and looks forward to sustained success.
We are also very privileged to have Blake Caracella on board as our junior coaching coordinator. Blake will assist all our coaches in with advice, developing training drills and passing on the wisdom he has gained over his career – thanks Blake.
This weekend sees games on Friday night, Saturday morning and Sunday morning at Elderslie Reserve, as well as games at Hurst Reserve on Saturday. So if you can’t get down to Colac and you need your Eagle fix there’s plenty of juniors running around at home.
Finally don’t forget that quality affordable meals are available every Thursday night after training in the rooms and that Friday night the rooms are open to watch the AFL and enjoy a cool drink.
Until next week – Go Eagles.
"Nipper" Russell Hyland
Junior Football Coordinator
