STAR shooter Julia Knott has capped a stunning debut season at Newtown & Chilwell, winning the GFL's A Grade best and fairest.
Knott, who left GDFL club Winchelsea for the Eagles along with Amy Wirth, Nat Tommasini, Renee Pilkington and the Blues' three-time premiership coach Jason Woolley, polled in 10 matches to claim victory by one vote last night.
Knott polled 23 votes to beat South Barwon's Danielle Sgarbi (22 votes) and Eagles' teammate Danielle Stewart (21 votes).
Sgarbi attracted votes in nine of 18 matches, while Eagle Stewart polled eight times to be right in the hunt for the medal.
Colac midcourter Shelley Scott earnt votes on nine occasions to finish fourth, while Leopold's Nikki Cooke was fifth after polling 17 votes from just six games.
Knott was also named in the GFL Team of the Year.
The Eagles, who will play the winner of preliminary finalists Leopold and South Barwon in the grand final, had three representatives in the side.
The Swans and the Lions also had three players make the team.
South Barwon's Ruby Horton, Knott and Lion Rachel King make up goalers, Leopold's Kaitlyn Amor, Stewart and Swan Olivia Cameron won spots in midcourt and Sgarbi, Leopold's Emily Mannix and Eagle Madeleine Taylor were selected in defence.
South Barwon's Sascha Veldhuis was named coach of the year, while St Albans' Grace Iacono was umpire of the year.
Newtown's Kate Jeanes won the B Grade best and fairest, St Joseph's Caroline Morgan won C Grade, while South Barwon's Liza Harwood won D Grade best and fairest.
