Hello Newtown & Chilwell members,
The Committee would like to update you all on what is happening around the Club.
It is with regret that I advise that our elected office bearers for 2014 (President, Secretary and Treasurer) have resigned. The Committee met this week and respectfully accepted the resignations.
The Committee, and I personally, would like to take this opportunity in publicly thanking Ian Spolding and Ian Quarrell for their years of service to Newtown & Chilwell.
Ian Spolding as President (and Treasurer) has been the catalyst over the last 3 years in driving the success of our Club. His many hours of selfless commitment, sponsorship and passion has immeasurably changed the Club and for that, the Club owes a debt of gratitude to him and his wife, Debbie. We wish them well for the future.
Ian Quarrell as Secretary (and Event Centre Manager) has served our Club for many years and his elevation to Life Membership a few years ago is testament to the dedication that this man has given in the service of our Club. I know from personal experience that the role of Secretary is an arduous one, and coupled with the responsibilities of running our Event Centre business, Ian has essentially been working full time as a volunteer for our Club. The Committee would like to also wish him well for whatever it is that he does in the future.
It is my wish that they will be able to enjoy the fruits of their hard work at the Club for many years to come.
As a result of these resignations, the Committee met earlier this week and have appointed myself as President pursuant to our Constitution – a role that I will be undertaking in a caretaking capacity only. It is the Committee’s intention to call a Special General Meeting on Wednesday 13th November 2013 at 7pm at the Clubrooms (refer to Wednesday’s edition of the Geelong Advertiser), whereby an election will be held for the positions of:
- President
- Vice – Presidents x 2
- Secretary and;
- Treasurer
Nominations are required to be proposed and seconded by a member of the Club and signed by the member being nominated and be sent to myself no later than7pm Wednesday 6th November 2013.
I would like to assure all members that the Committee is still functioning and the business of the Club (and Event Centre) is still being undertaken. Planning and actions are being undertaken in all divisions – Football, Netball and Junior Football and we anticipate being able to keep members updated as more progress is made in each division.
