Newtown & Chilwell has put a tumultous start to the season behind it and got a crucial win on the board. The Eagles who lost their captain Michael Bright during the week, bounced back from a shock first round loss to North Shore to down Colac by three goals at Colac's Central Reserve.
The Tigers were able to open up aa 19-point lead at the first change, and thehad built on that by half-time to lead by 28-points.
But the Eagles found the unity it has been seeking to produce a stiriring second half comeback.
They pegged the deficit back to two goals by three-quarter time to give themselves a chance of a come from behind victory.
After leading all day, Colac let the four points slip in the final term when the Eagles pile on five goals to nil to run out 11.11 (77) to 8.11 (59) winners.
Colac's season is already looking shaky now after giving up a winnable position following its 90-oint loss to South Barwon in round one. The Eagles next face Leopold at Elderslie Reserve.
