Simon Grundell kicks 10 goals in round 19 when Nth Shore, 19-19-133 defeat Leopold, 17-11-113 and kicks 69 goals for the season.

The Club mourns the passing of stalwart Marty Dunstan. In the 70’s Marty was the gatekeeper and no-one entered the Lion’s den without paying…although a few tried. One particular day he was seen running (as a sprightly 68 year old) around the outer wing with his gatekeeper’s money bag over his shoulder, someone had gotten in without paying. A tap on the car window later with the money claimed he sauntered back to the gate. There were fifteen cars and some foot traffic lined up at the gate… not one of them was game to pass through ‘Marty’s Gate’ and face the inevitable consequences.

For many years he was also our timekeeper and he delighted in shielding the clock from his opposition timekeeper at the end of a quarter, particularly if we looked like scoring…. he called it gamesmanship.
