Janey Heylen
Although Nyora didn't win a premiership either years in the WGFL, they had a colourful supporter in Janey Heylen. Mrs Heylen had a colourful personality, and a very loud voice. When she opened her mouth the whole ground heard her. Mrs Heylen followed Nyora, supporting them every match until she gave up due to old age (she felt that she might pass out if she kept it up).
Tom Roller
Tom Roller was a very colourful character in Nyora. Nicknamed "The Mumble", Tom was an outstanding barracker. There was only one problem, Tom used to stand on the field half way between the centre and the boundry line. This was not appreciated by the umpire, but, even after numerous warnings, Tom would continue to stay in his spot on the field. Nyora decided to do Tom a favour and made him first aid man. It gave him good reason to stand in his usual position, yelling both abuse and encouragment from on the ground. Tom was never what you would call a good first aid man, in fact he was a terrible first aid man, but he was one hell of a supporter.
Tubby
Tubby was an old one sided character, who has been an active member of the football club from the beginning, til his death in march 1983.
Ever since I can remember he has always been on the sidelines yelling and cheering on the footballers. But his support for Nyora didn't stop there, he was also a strong supporter for the netballers, and during the finals he was on either the sidelines of the netball court or the football oval cheering on the players. Although Tubby was muched loved and respected in Nyora, not all other clubs saw eye to eye with him. One of the reasons for this could be that Tubby was often suspected of blowing the siren early when it was a close match and Nyora were just up, although he was never caught doing this. Tubby also had a habit of singling out one player from the opposition and abusing him for the whole match, but you knew that if he picked you out, that you were playing well. Tubby only went after the good players.
Ampol
Another Nyora great was a skillful player by the name of Jack Aberhams or "Ampol". Ampol had a great reputation of never being running onto the ground with the team. Ampol would always turn up to the match when the teams were already out on the ground ready to begin. Ampol never cleaned his boots from the previous match, and he didn't beleive in having laces. But despite all that he was one of the best players Nyora have had at the club.
