A clean sweep last weekend against Paynesville with all 5 netball sides and both footy sides getting the chocolates. The netball girls were in rare form. Youngster Sam Beha pulled on the boots for her first game in the A grade and showed skill and poise beyond her years. She was a good player along with Rhomi Webb and Chrissy James in a 6 goal victory. The B’s won easy with Mieka Pitt and Marissa McKean receiving the awards. C Grade had a tough battle on their hands and got over the line in the last quarter by 3 goals. Teagan Hack and Phoebe Waites considered best. The C Reserve side keeps on keeping on with a massive 17 goal win with Katie Carstairs and Sharon Cain dominant all game. The D Grade also got the points in a thriller by one point at the death. Youngsters Claudia Reggardo and Emma Terjesen doing their stuff.
With no thirds at Paynesville it was an eerie feeling that welcomed the footballers to the Lakeside Oval. With DD Kelly sidelined with a potentially career ending knee injury and Prazza still on his football sabbatical, coach Goo was feeling the pinch. Enter first gamer Josh Bouwman to the club. He was dominant in the air and around the ground finishing with 5 goals in a very impressive first up display. Yatesy also made his long awaited re-debut for the club and snagged 6 goals up forward but it was the hard running of Reece Deppeler that impressed most as he had his best game for the club. Brad Duncan may have an odour issue as he spent two hours out on the far wing by himself with no-one going anywhere near him! The ressies ended up winning convincingly by 67 points to get things back on track.
The senior game was a close affair. Without the coach, the captain and one of the vice captains it was up to Stevie B to lead the way and he did so with aplomb. The boys could never really shake a persistent Gulls side but did enough in the end to take the cake. Stevo booted 4, Clarkey and Stevie B 3 apiece while the Foss was clearly best afield as he wound the clock way back in a dominant performance right across the paddock. Dale Walkinshaw had an excellent debut senior game for the club while Luke Reg also showed he has a lot to offer the footy club in the future. Lakes eventual 19 point winners.
