Another disappointing week at the office for the footballers with no wins from three attempts. The thirds remain on top of the ladder despite dropping the last two games while the seniors sit third and the reserves fourth coming into the pointy end of the season. We all need to really knuckle down for the next six weeks leading into finals, keep hitting the training track, find some form on a Saturday, get some more wins on the board and be really flying come finals time.
The netballers, on the other hand, had great results last week against Lindenow with all five teams getting up! In the A Grade Lakes missed a number of scoring opportunities in the first letting Lindenow take the lead by two goals heading into the second. Lakes regrouped and played a terrific second quarter led by some great defensive work from Deanne McKendry. A great team effort saw them take a lead of eight into the second half. A strong second half from all players saw Lakes extend their lead to run out winners by sixteen 43 – 27. Deanne McKendry and Jacquie James considered best.
Award winners in the other grades were: (B) the tall and the short of it – Brodi Watts and Lindy Bills; (C) Tara Gray and Indi Ellis; (C Res) Tahlia Sumner and Monica Moorhouse; and (D) Emma Terjesen and Morgan Chester.
