Last weekend was a great weekend for the Lakes Entrance Football Netball Club both on and off the field! Three wins on the football field including a 25 goal thumping of Orbost in the seniors, and four out of five wins on the netball court was a great result for the club. As for the off field, the Ted Whitten Jnr lunch was well attended with over $1500 raised for the EJ Whitten Foundation. Special thanks to our great sponsors Mick and Sammy at Miriam’s for providing the delicious lunches! The evening session was also well received with plenty of people in attendance for the Band Night at the clubrooms while Turtle Stewart was considered best afield in the after dark activities.
The netballers had a great day with the A, B, C Res and D grades all getting the chocolates. The young C grade side was well beaten by the more experienced and undefeated Orbost team. The best players on the day went to (A) Abbey Sproule and Lidia Thorpe-Sommerville, (B) Marissa McKean and Brodi Watts, (C) Tara Gray and Emily Marsden, (C Res) Alex Smith, Sharon Cain and Sarah Marsden and (D) Michalla Radford and Pariss McKendry.
The thirds kicked off the day with a huge win after a month out of football for various reasons. Bonox kicked 4 and Sauer and Dugins 3 each while Spud Harrison continued his good form with a BOG performance.
The reserves beat the previously undefeated OSR by 9 points in what was a tight but pretty ordinary game of football. Rob Love showed he can kick them from anywhere and on any foot as he snagged 2 first quarter goals, while Prazza – back from football hibernation – and Yatesy also snagged 2. Sam Nickless in his return to the club was outstanding being considered best afield while Ben Crittenden showed a fair bit in his first outing for Lakes.
The seniors was a whitewash from the start with OSR failing to score a goal until the last quarter. Jimmy Beha was awesome up forward with 9 goals in a best on ground performance. Zac Guarnaccia chipped in with 5 goals and is going from strength to strength this year. Zammit and Lowey were great in defence and Stevo turned out his best game for the club so far.
Next home game against Lindenow we will be having a Karaoke & Fancy Dress Night at the clubrooms from 8pm.
Today we travel to WyYung to take on the Tigers in what should be another big day of matches then back to the Central tonight for awards at 7pm.
Go Seagulls!
