Round 2 proved to be another good day on the park for the Seagulls. Three wins in the footy and a couple in the netball was a good result for the club. Special thanks to the ladies for the dinners last Saturday night. As usual they were fantastic.
The footy started well with the thirds continuing their good form. Chad has called for a bigger goal square with Bonox and TK working in tandem and booting six each from full forward. Matty Dugins, Damien Harrison and Brandon Sauer were considered best in a 51 point victory.
The reserves didn’t have it all their own way despite the 104 point win. Good to see the fly in duo of Dunks and Tweeds back in the side while Graham Sellings also made a welcome return to footy. Prazza was again amongst the best with Clunka, Rooster and Squid also featuring. Burgo snagged another 6 and Dylan Higgins 4 in a good win.
Like the reserves, the seniors found it hard to shake the persistent Lucknow, only leading by 7 points at half time before running away with a 78 point win. Gezza booted 5, Jimbob 4 and Clarky and the real Dangerous Dave Kelly 3 apiece in a good display up forward. Jesse Beha finally got on the board late in the game with a good goal, while Goo also cracked it for a goal in a rare moment up forward before heading back to the back pocket. The defence was rock solid with best players Lowey, Hoops, Dino and Cleggy all coming from the backline.
The girls got 2 from 5 on the board this week with the C and D Grades coming up trumps. Best players for the round included Nephelle Watts, Marissa McKean, Tara Gray, Leanne Murray and Tiarni Patten.
Our next home game is 14th May and we will be holding our annual karaoke night. So get practising in the shower over the next few weeks, ready to rock the night away for a great time.
This week we travel to Orbost to take on the old foe. As always we are set for eight tough matches. Be sure to get back the Central Hotel for the awards from 7pm.
