A great start to the season by the Seagulls with 7 out of 8 wins and a draw in the C Reserve. Congratulations to all involved.
The netballers started the season well with wins in the A, B, C & D grades. Rhomi Webb picked up where she left off last year with a best on while Brodi Watts return to the club also earned her the chocolates in Round 1. Other good players were Cindy Beha, Sharon Cain and Claudia Reggardo.
The thirds kicked off their season well against an undermanned Paynesville. With several of the boys filling in for the Gulls during the day, the game was pretty one sided as we ran out 138 point winner. Bonox Buchanan bagged 7 while Ayden Vogrig and Brandon Sauer kicked 4 each. Best players were Daniel Harrison, Damien Harrison and Matt Dugins.
The Reserves managed to break away from a persistent Paynesville to record a 39 point victory. With several new faces in the side this year it took the boys some time to gel and will only be better for the run. Burgo kicked 9 up forward while it was great to see Chris ‘Lace Out’ Andy back at the club. Other good players were Daniel Roberts, Tatas and Dylan Higgins in his first game at Lakes.
The Senior side rang away with a strong 11 goal victory after a tough battle in the first half. Lead by captain Nathan Pegler and Dave ‘Kick-a-Goal’ Kelly the lads showed some excellent passages of play throughout the match. First gamers Ryan Hooper and Jesse Beha equipped themselves well while Andrew Stevens was good in his first hit out for the club. Coach Gezza kicked 4 up forward and was well supported by Stevo, Stevie B, Rhys Hubbard and Jimbob Beha with 3 goals each.
This week we welcome Lucknow to the Lakeside Oval for our first home game of the season. After the game be sure to come in for a meal and a few refreshing drinks to celebrate the days play. Go Seagulls!
