The Lakes Entrance Football Netball Club is ready to kick off the 2012 season. The football pre season training for Seniors, Reserves and Thirds is set to recommence next Monday 30th January at 6pm at the football ground.
Since the break for Christmas there has been plenty happening off field with the recruitment of players high on the agenda. Senior Coach Rod Bills said that getting a few new faces to the club was imperative to help the Club move forward in 2012.
“We need some new faces to freshen the place up and put pressure on the guys that have been playing seniors for the last couple of years without anyone really gunning for their spot in the side”, he said.
“A couple of people have come to town over the Christmas period and we are hoping to secure their services, while the guys we touched base with toward the end of last year, we are hoping to see at training next week and beyond”.
At this stage the Seagulls are expecting not to lose any players from their 2011 side and bolster it with some new players of senior quality.
In the coaching ranks, with Bills coaching the Seniors and Nathan Pegler coaching the Thirds things are looking good off the field. The Club is also expecting to announce a new Reserves Coach and Netball Coach in the next week or so putting everything in place for a successful 2012 campaign.
Meanwhile, on Australia Day at the Lakes Sports & Community Club, the Lakes Entrance Football Netball Club in conjunction with the Lakes Entrance Cricket Club will be running a Family Fun Day from midday. There will be a large raffle on the day with a number of excellent prizes while outside there will be an inflatable slide and footy, netball and cricket activities for the kids. Tickets go on sale from midday and the raffle will be drawn at 3pm with the major prize a nights’ accommodation at the Lakes Apartments.
