A much better return across the board at Paynesville last round with the two footy teams getting up and three of the five netballers also getting over the line.
The senior game was a real arm wrestle all afternoon with Paynesville never giving up, the Lakes boys holding on for a 9 point win. With a dozen players in the side under 21 it was left up to the old fella Carstairs who was great around the ground and also up forward snagging three goals and earning best on ground honours. Jesse Beha continued his rich vein of form while Rhys Hubbard had his best game of the season to date. First gamers Blake Forrester, Spud Harrison and Matt Dalton, all out of the thirds, held their own while Tataz Lee was excellent when he came onto the ground.
The twos managed to get a game together with reduced numbers on both teams. In the absence of Tataz it was the return of Casper that got the ball rolling. He was excellent in the ruck for the duration of the day. Graham Sellings again had plenty of the ball while the athletic combination of Mo, Bonox and Burgo all kicked 4 goals up forward in a big win for the boys.
B Grade had a number of players unavailable this week and thanks go to Monica Davidson, Mel Campisi, Sigrid Dostine and Sarah Loft for filling the gaps and enabling Lakes to have a competitive game. After a tight first half, some steady work in the centre from Sigrid Dostine gave Lakes the lead in the third term and they were then able to run away with the win 27 - 24. Marissa McKean was strong in defence all day keeping a steady head under pressure. The other winners were A Grade and C Reserve.
Big games this week against Lucknow. Be sure to stick around for the awards and a few refreshments after the game.
