Great to see some of the old boys here from the 1971 Premiership to watch the senior game today against Orbost Snowy Rovers in what is a massive weekend for the club.
It started last night with a catch up, a few jars and plenty of yarns. Moves into today with the lunch guest speaker Ted Whitten Jnr here to entertain all those present, the senior game which is a must win and should be a cracker and then the official celebration of the 1971 Premiership Side to be held tonight after the game. Wow – what a weekend and we welcome back all the past players to the club and hope they have an excellent time!
The thirds play their first game for a number of weeks today due to the bye and a couple of forfeits. Chad has had them purring on the track and with Mini, Bonox, Forry, Spud, Vogo and Sauer playing great footy (to name a few) the boys should be pumped for the challenge.
The twos continue to fluctuate with numbers and this week is no exception with a plethora of footballers (and otherwise) available to reserves selection. If the side ever settles it may well be pretty reasonable. Ah, the beauty of twos footy in the country!
The seniors will welcome back a number of players this week in what is a must win game for the club. The coach has been working hard with the boys on skills, endurance and match day tactics and will be hoping the efforts in the first half of the year come into fruition in the second half of the season. John Hooper has had a stellar first half of the season as has Adam Lowcock while Jimmy Beha, Andrew Stevens and Xavier Ryan have been having a huge influence on games. The young brigade have also performed admirably so far with no less than 12 players under the age of 21 in the win over Lucknow a fortnight ago.
The netballers will also look for a big day on the court with old rival Orbost providing excellent competition. Things have been coming together for the girls in recent weeks and we hope that they can continue their great form today. Special mention to the A Grade girls who had an outstanding win against Lucknow last outing! Way to go girls.
Welcome to OSR today. We invite you in for refreshments both during and after the game.
Go Seagulls!!!
