MONBULK JUNIOR FOOTBALL CLUB POLICY STATEMENT
PHILOSOPHY:
The Monbulk Junior football Club will assist our players to reach their full potential in all facets of the game of football.
We will facilitate their growth and development in areas of ball skills, team building, self discipline and respect for umpires, coaches, team mates and opposition.
The following policies are designed to help us achieve these goals and make our teams competitive.
TRAINING:
All players will be expected to abide by team rules as set out by the coaches. They will be expected to be punctual to training and to call the coaches if they are unable to attend training or game day. Any breaches of the team rules at training or non attendance at training may be disciplined by the coaches as they see fit, which may include decreased game time or suspension.
Effort, good behavior and regular attendance at training will be rewarded.
TEAMS:
Under 10 are non competitive and as such have as their focus the development of football skills. All team members should be given equal game time over the season.
Under 12, 14 & 16 sides should be filled first as per league policy. These teams should have a competitive focus and each child should receive a minimum of two quarters on the ground each game.
Under 11, 13 & 15 teams will only be offered after having full even sides.
REGISTRATION AND TEAM NUMBERS
1. Registration Day. When registering, players are initially to be placed into their specific age groups ranging throughout all grades being 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 & 16. Numbers are collated with a view to target new players to fill spots in teams that are short.
2. Based on the numbers on Registration day the “Match Committee” (made up of x3 committee members including a min of 1 executive member) shall nominate the age groups that it feels will be viable for the coming season. Team numbers are initially based on having 22 players per team to allow numbers to push into higher grades. After filling all teams as required, team numbers can be maximized at 25 (except under 10’s and under 16’s who have no max no.)
3. Prior to formalizing the grading for the league, the “Match Committee”, shall grade the teams noting the following.
A. Players registering an expression of interest before registration day will get preference as to their grading.
B. Players registered on registration day will be placed into teams in order of their age group. Where numbers are too great in one age group and are short in a higher age group, parents of all players will be asked if their child could move up one age group. If no player wishes to go up, the eldest players, not pre-registered, will be moved up until the above age groups numbers are full.
C. Players registered after registration day will be placed into teams in order of their age group if numbers allow. If numbers in that age group are full (ie 25) then they will be offered a place in the next age group.
NOTES:
1. Even age groups shall be filled to maximum numbers first (Initially 22 then 25).
2. Maximum number in any one age group (except under 10’s and under 16’s) is 25.
3. Where numbers are too great in one age group and are short in a higher age group, parents of all players shall be asked if their child could move up or down one age group.
If numbers in the higher grade cannot be filled to a minimum of 16 then selection shall be based on section 3a/ 3b / 3c
4. If a player wishes to play for a higher age group, he may register for that group providing numbers are not to the maximum of 25, otherwise he must return to his normal age group.
This decision is to be made solely at the discretion of the match committee.
5. All decisions are made at the discretion of the match committee and are final.
