Owen Started his football career at the age of 13yrs and played with Tooleybuc Football Club.
1967 - Played with Tooleybuc 3rds
1968 - went to Richmond and played in the U/17’s
1969 – went to Dandenong and played in the U/19’s (which were the 3rds) – won a Best and Fairest that year there.
1970 – still in the Dandenong U/19’s but also had a few games with the Dandenong 2nd’s
1971 – played in the Dandenong 2nd’s
1972 – was in the army then and played in the Army team at Singleton, NSW and won a flag (the only grand final he has ever played in)
1973 – went to Keysborough (a Melb suburb near Dandenong) – won a Best and Fairest there.
1974-75 – came back to Tooleybuc to play footy in the seniors. Coached the Tooleybuc 3rds
1976-77 – went to Manangatang footy club and coached (they were in the Tyrell league then)
1978-83 – went back to Tooleybuc and played in the seniors
During that time he also coached the South West Riverina Teal Cup Footy for NSW for 5-6yrs and took players from this area to be represented.
1987 coached the United Footy U/17’s (3rds)
Main man in the house project which bought important funds for the future of the club.
Senior Selectors in the 2000/2001 Premiership years
Chairman of the United club 2007 and 2008 – brought together the football, junior football and netball clubs.
He’s umpires the Reserves, waved flags, kept time, done the interchange, helped with catering functions, BBQ cook at the trots.
Whenever there is a function or helper where Owen can help in some way he is a part of it.
