History of this Great Club
Throughout its history Lalbert Football Netball Club has earned the respect of opposition teams and supporters. While the club has enjoyed on field success it has also been regarded as one of the most enjoyable and successful clubs socially. The club has always welcomed new players and continues to place a great emphasis on looking after its players and their families.
Since winning league grand finals in 1992 and 1996 the club has been through a difficult period. Until recently the club struggled to compete with town based clubs for junior footballers and as a result did not have the players coming through to play senior football as had been the case in years gone by. In addition, the club experienced financial hardship as a result of the drought meaning we were not in a position to recruit the players needed.
While these were certainly hard years the club is now in an enviable position where, through a lot of dedication and hard work, it has an outstanding junior football program in place which is already producing some exciting young talent. This was demonstrated in some of the young players who were exposed to senior football last year. It is also in a strong position financially and is poised for success over the next few years.
The club has a strong supporter base and excellent administration. We have recruited players who are able to compliment some of the young players emerging at the club as we recognize that this is where the future of the club lies. At the same time we have we believe obtained players who want to join a dynamic club, who enjoy and value the social side of football but remain professional in their approach to football and have a hunger for success.
