3rd May, 2008
This week, we caught up with Des Renfrey for his thoughts on footy.
Your age please Des: 60
How long since you've played the great game? About 30 years!
How has the game changed since then?
It's become a lot faster, there's more sooks, I think they watch too much TV and there's overuse of the ball, too much handball in fact. I probably wouldn't even get a game because I would mark the ball, take a few steps back, and kick it! Football!
Who's your best bets for BFC Senior Best & Fairest 2008?
Dane Fitzgerald or Jason Dennis.
Who would you want to take on a week long camping trip in the bush and why?
I would take Dors (Doreen Greenham) because she was my school teacher, she could cook my meals and then she would sing me to sleep.
Who do you consider to be a legend of our Club?
It would have to be Brian D Smith. He did a hell of a lot of work in this Club in years gone by, President, Secretary, Trainer, etc and he helped to build the foundation of what we have here today. That's why we honour him every week with a drink in the "Brian D Smith Stand".
What are you looking forward to this year at Balranald Football Club?
I would like the Club to be successful i.e. having a good year with everyone and maintaining harmony in all aspects both on and off the field. I hope we can again rebuild it to be the great social and family club it has been in the past - that is my ambition.
