CODES OF CONDUCT
The Club Code of Conduct applies to all of our officials, volunteers, members and supporters of the Morwell Junior Football Club.
PLAYER’S CODE OF CONDUCT.
- Always play by the rules of your club and the laws of the game.
- Never argue or disagree with an umpire or other officials.
- Control your temper - verbal abuse of officials and sledging other players is not acceptable.
- Be a team player.
- Treat others as you would like to be treated.
- Co-operate with your coach, the umpires and team-mates.
- Be a good sport.
- Play for your own enjoyment and fun, as well as to improve your skills.
- Do not comment on a person’s race, religion, gender or ability under any circumstances. This is hurtful and legal or disciplinary action may be taken against you.
PARENTS, SUPPORTERS & OFFICIALS CODE OF CONDUCT.
- Remember that your role is to support and encourage all players to enjoy the game.
- Encourage participation.
- Teach that enjoyment is more important than winning.
- Do not comment on mistakes or losses.
- Lead by example and respect all players, coaches, umpires and spectators. Physical or verbal abuse will not be tolerated by our club.
- Recognise and support the volunteers who work to ensure that the club continues to provide a safe, enjoyable and viable sporting club for your children.
- Never publicly criticise umpires. Any concerns must be raised with club officials in private.
- Do not comment on a person’s race, religion, gender or ability under any circumstances. This is hurtful and legal disciplinary action may be taken against you.
COACH’S CODE OF CONDUCT.
- Morwell Junior Football Club encourages all coaches to be accredited.
- Coaches must adhere to the AFL Code of Conduct (as detailed below), as well as the MJFC Official’s Code of Conduct.
- Respect the rights, dignity and worth of all individuals involved in the game, including refraining from any discriminatory practices on the basis of race, religion, ethnic background, or special ability/disability.
- Abide by and teach the AFL Laws of the Game and the Rules of my Club and League/Association.
- Be reasonable in the demands made on the time commitments of the players, having due consideration for their health and well-being.
- Refrain from any form of personal abuse or unnecessary physical contact with the players.
- Have due consideration for varying maturity and ability levels of the players when designing practice schedules, practice activities and involvement in competition.
- Avoid overplaying the talented players aiming to maximise participation and enjoyment for all players regardless of ability. Where responsible for players in the 5-12 year old age group, ensure that all players gain equal playing time.
- Stress and monitor safety always
- Recognise the significance of injury and sickness, seek and follow the physician’s advice concerning the return of injured or ill players to training
- Endeavour to keep informed regarding sound principles of coaching and skill development, and of factors relating to the welfare ofplayers
- At all times display and teach appropriate sporting behaviour, ensuring that players understand and practise fair play.
- Display and foster respect for umpires, opponents, coaches, administrators, other officials, parents and spectators.
- Ensure that players are involved in a positive environment where skill learning and development are priorities and are not overshadowed by a desire to win.
- Reject the use of performance enhancing substances in sport and abide by the guidelines set forth in the AFL DRUG POLICY.
