Geelong Football Club AFL/VFL games record holder
Former Sandhurst Junior FC player and current Geelong Cats Football Club captain, Joel Selwood, will become the games record holder in AFL/VFL matches for the Geelong Football Club. Having started in the Bendigo Junior Football League with the St Thereses Junior FC, Joel moved to play with Sandhurst after under 12s.
Geelong's 2021 AFL semi final against Greater Western Sydney will be Joel's 333rd game as a Cat. Joel will surpass Corey Enright as the outright games record holder for Geelong FC which was formed in 1859.
As a member of 2 of the oldest Australian Rules football clubs, Joel's achievement should be held in high regard. The long history of the Geelong Football Club shows what unbelievable durability Joel has shown throughout his AFL career which started as a premiership player in 2007.
Well done Joel. The Sandhurst Junior FC are proud that we were part of the journey.
