Code of Conduct
CODE OF CONDUCT CLUB POLICY:
Our club is committed to providing a safe environment for participation. Angry, aggressive or other inappropriate behaviour by members, their families and friends and other sporting personnel while attending a game will not betolerated.
As an affiliated club we abide by the code of conduct set by Victorian Country Football League and Netball Australia and we expect all players, coaches, parents, supporters and members to meet the following requirements:
- Operate within the rules and spirit of the game promoting fair play and good sportsmanship.
- Respect the rights and worth of every player regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background and religion.
- Respect the decisions of official's, coaches and administrators in the conduct of the sport.
- Ensure your decisions and actions contribute to a harassment free environment.
- Do not tolerate any harmful or abusive behaviors’; verbally, via text messaging, email or any other form of social media (e.g.Facebook).
- Adopt responsible behaviour in relation to alcohol anddrugs.
- Do not accept unwanted touching, sexual jokes or inappropriate comments of a sexual nature
ForPlayers:
- Participate because you enjoy it, not to please parents and coaches.
- Play by the rules, know the rules.
- Participate fairly and safely.
- Abide by decisions without argument or bad temper. Never argue with an official or an umpire.If you disagree, captains can approach and ask for clarification during a break or at the end of the game.
- Co-operate with your coach and other players:
o Verbal abuse of officials or other players, deliberately fouling or provoking an opponentand throwing or damaging equipment is NOT acceptable or permitted.
o Treat all players as you would like to be treated. Bullying in any form is NOT acceptable or tolerated.
- Be a responsible team member.
o Always be on time.
o Encourage and assist other players.
o Attend training regularly and consistently
o Be a good sportsperson and applaud good play by both teams.
o Shake hands at the end of the game.
- Respect and acknowledge the contribution made by the volunteers who create the opportunity for you to play. (administrators, coaches, runners, water carriers, scorers, time keepers,umpires,trainers, primary carepersons)
For Parents /Supporters:
- Encourage children to participate and have fun.
- Focus on the children’s efforts and performance rather than winning or losing.
- Never ridicule or yell at a child for making a mistake or losing a competition.
- Applaud good performance and efforts by al lplayers.
- Respect the umpires and coaches decisions. For disagreements approach the coach in a non-aggressive manner after the game. Any serious issues approach an executive committee person.
- Support your coaches and club officials in maintaining the highest standard of behaviour.
- Recognize the value and importance of volunteer coaches. Offer your assistance to the team your child is playing in so that every opportunity is being provided for the very best supervision and support. Your involvement will give both yourself and your child far more satisfaction.Coaches always need assistance with a variety of jobs; team managers, water carriers, runners,scoring,timekeeping, primary care, setting up and packing up of equipment.
- Children learn by example, be a model of good sports behaviour for children to copy.
For Coaches:
- Treat all players fairly and with respect at all times. Be honest and consistent with them.
- Provide a healthy safe environment for players. Promote a climate of mutual support among your players.Encourage players to respect one another and expect respect for their worth as individuals regardless of their level ofplay.
- Encourage and facilitate players’ independence and responsibility for their own behaviour,performance, decisions andactions.
- Refrain from negative comments and any form of personal abuse o rharassment.
- Provide training and game opportunities to ensure that everyone has a reasonable chance to succeed and to improve/acquire skills and develo pconfidence.
- At all times act as a role model and promote positive aspects of the sport. Be positive encouraging and supportive at all times.
CODE OFCONDUCT:
- All players, parents, supporters, coaches and members must abide by our clubs code of conduct.
- If fthere is a problem please report it immediately tos omeone in a position of authority(club executive committee member, coach, ground official)
- Report any inappropriate spectator behaviour to club president or someone in a position of authority.
All Junior Players and Parents please note:
In the event of not abiding by the Code of Conduct and if an investigation is enforced by the Bendigo Junior Football league and if the player is found guilty and a fine follows, this fine will be passed on to the player for payment.
