In 1859 a meeting was held to arrange the first ever game of football in Castlemaine. Through the following years there were various games introduced: league was played until 1923 and then in 1925 Castlemaine entered a side in the Bendigo Football League. The club had its first Premiership success in 1926. A few of the more recent club milestones include:
1971: Saw the club change their football uniforms to the Collingwood style jumper.
1984: Entered a 16.5 age group side in the Bendigo Junior football league.
1991: Netball joined the BFL.
1992: Forty year senior premiership drought broken.
2002: Masters football league in Castlemaine with help from Seymour/Puckapunyal players.
2007: Dedicated junior development netball squad playing in local competition.
2009: The club celebrated their 150 year anniversary.
2012: Consistent with the recommendations of a 2011 review of junior football in the Castlemaine, Kyneton & Maryborough regions by the WorkSafe Victorian Country Football League, the club expands its commitment to junior football by participating in the Under 14 competition in the Bendigo Junior Football League.
2013: Castlemaine Football Netball Club welcomes three district junior football clubs into it's fold, each with it's own proud history and values. Wesley Hill, West End and Winters Flat, known as the three W's are embraced by the club. This also sees the further development of our junior football program with the introduction of under 10, under 12 and junior girls teams. Castlemaine Football Netball Club can now boast a pathway from under 10 football through to senior competition.
