Today we travel to Lake Wendouree to commence the most crucial period of our home and away season as we take on the top sides over the next 6 weeks. How we fare in these six weeks will determine if we are going to be a part of the finals action.
Sebastopol Game
Football
The Seniors after two very close wins in the previous rounds were much too strong for a struggling Sebastopol winning by 161 points. Best: Mitchell Conn, Joshua Burgess ( 9 goals) , James Rizk, Jesse Flannery, Mathew Medcraft, Benjamin Said.
The Reserves after inaccurate kicking for goal in the first half led by 20 points. However they found the goals in the second half to win convincingly by 50 points. Best: James Brien, Andrew Gilbertson, Gregory Hay, James Sheahan, Joshua Muir, Jason Agrotis
The Under 18.5’s continued their losing streak. While trailing by only two goals at half time the young Lions could not match it with Sebastopol after half time and went down by seven goals. Best: Joshua Lanyon, Justin Waldron, Tanner Bell, Luke Borg, Joshua Guthrie, William Healy
Netball
A great weekend of netball this weekend with all four teams snaring some big wins.
U19s - the girls biggest win for the season winning by a massive 31 goal margin. Defensively the girls were awesome, totally shutting down Sebastopol attack line. Every single girl contributed with Taylah Settee dominating the ring & Erin Surkitt causing havoc defensively. Great win.
B Grade - the girls continue to go from strength to strength with another convincing win with another 31 goal margin. The midcourt was lead ably by Tarsh Cox who is having a cracker of a season, backed up by Kristen Sharam, having her best game for the season. Danah Burrows fed Lisa Summers beautifully in the absence of the injured Ash Stirling. The win secured us second spot which is a great place to be sitting with the bye up our sleeve.
A Reserve - these girls went 10 better & had a 41 goal win. It has really come together for these girls in the last few weeks. Suzi Johnson was super in defence & chased ever ball on the ground or in the air. Kila Elavo was again outstanding & Courtney Bryant was on fire. Awesome effort girls.
A Grade- a 14 goal win against a much improved Sebastopol. Lauren Gilchrist starred in her 250th for the club - an absolute unbelievable effort. Congratulations Lozzy. Although we are not playing our best netball we are still slogging out wins. The two Bec's were sensational in defence particularly in the 2nd & 3rd quarters keeping Sebas to 3 & 4 goals respectively. Good effort in trying conditions.
