Our Derrimut Gym Melton Bloods Seniors pulled up a bit short against the Redan Lions last week. A crazy games with 9 straight points until the first Bloods goal midway through the second quarter. The boys straightened up to hit the lead briefly but were overrun in the end. The Ressies and Unders both had good wins with the Unders nailing a goal after the siren to snatch a win. Out on the netball courts honours went to Redan with our D Grade Girls scoring the only win for the day in a close game.
This weekend we are at Bacchus Marsh where the Cobras are sure to put on a tough game for us on their home turf at Maddingly Park. The fight for a spot in the finals is still on and the Bloods will never give up on that goal.
The Bloods would also like to express their appreciation to the Redan Trainers who came to the assistance of Nathan Wallace in the senior game. Nathan hit the ground heavily near the Redan coaches box and their trainers were first on the scene and not only cared for him at the instant but followed up after the game. We all appreciate their efforts and their concern for his welfare. Nathan is OK. Thanks Redan – much appreciated.
Thank you all who assisted in the fundraising effort for the Maddie Riewoldt Foundation. The Melton Football Netball Club in conjunction with the Robinson family are set on raising awareness of Aplastic Anaemia and the effects it has on adolescents commonly aged between 15-25, while also recognising the outstanding contribution the Maddie Riewoldt Foundation is making to the community. 100 sets of purple laces were sold out in hours on Thursday night and collection tins were topped up during the day. So far over $1900 has been raised. We wish Alex and the Robinson family all the best for the future.

Social and fundraising notes:
Mid Year Ball: The big night is almost here so we hope everybody is ready and raring to go. A lot of work has gone into organizing this event and a good turn up is essential for it to be a success. Last chance to buy tickets online using Trybooking https://www.trybooking.com/book/sessions?eid=287825
10K Draw: Rayza is distributing tickets for the big draw to be held on Sunday 20th August. This is a major fundraiser for the club and your support is vital.
Thursday Meals: Always a popular feature on selection night, the Thursday Night Meals crew generates considerable revenue to the club as well as providing a feed to the boys and girls. This year as is common with most seasons the numbers staying behind drops off as the year goes on. Football AND Netball we need numbers at the club, supporting the club, to survive.
Membership: After last weeks whinge about unpaid fees a few players came up with some cash. Thank you to those who came forward. Those still with outstanding fees may expect a tap on the shoulder in coming weeks.
Sponsor of the week is Specialized Heating and Cooling. The Stanleys have been stalwarts at the Bloods for many years and we appreciate their support. As always with all our sponsors please give them a call at least to discuss your needs.
