SEPTEMBER 2020 EDITION
In a normal season, this Saturday would have been BFNL Grand Final Day, and hopefully we would have been at Mars Stadium watching a few of our Bloods football and netball teams challenging for a premiership. But, as we know, sadly there has been no football or netball played this year.
Since the cancellation of the 2020 season, the Committee has taken the opportunity to jump on zoom and share fundraising ideas and start our planning for the 2021 season.
Football Update
Plans for the 2021 season continue, with around 30 players having re-committed for next year already. We’re posting a daily signing update on Facebook - check it out to keep track of who is on board in 2021. For those who haven't seen the news, Aaron Tymms has been re-appointed as our senior football coach for the 2021 season.
Netball Coaches
Applications for coaching positions closed last month and the club will have an announcement about our A & B Grade coaches soon. Stay tuned to our website and social media for an update.
MacPherson Park Redevelopment
Some good news with the new pavilion being complete, but it also appears the next stage of the park re-development will include the re-alignment of Oval 2 on the other side of the new pavilion, with an extension to similar dimensions of our current oval. The ‘front oval’ when complete will have plenty of additional around the ground parking. Works are expected to take place during 2021 and be ready for the start of season 2022. Construction will also commence on the new rooms for the soccer club, which will see them temporarily re-locate to our existing clubrooms from early next year.
Pavers
We know that many of our loyal members have purchased a paver. Once the new rooms are officially handed over for the club to use, we will be in a position to install these in time for the 2021 season. There is still an opportunity to purchase a paver with your name on it – contact Jason Hurst for more info or download the form - https://websites.sportstg.com/get_file.cgi?id=36722364
At $250 it’s an opportunity to have your name on a paver outside the new rooms and be part of a new era for the club.
Mullets for Mental Health
Our Senior Coach Aaron Tymms is taking part in MULLETS FOR MENTAL HEALTH and would love the Melton Bloods family to get behind him and support this great cause. Tymmsy is aiming to raise at least $5,000 and we think that target can be smashed very quickly with your help! Most of us have been or know people who have been impacted by Mental Health and know how important it is to raise awareness and to have the right support network in place.

Punters Club
Hursty and Jacko are running the Punters Club every Saturday. Entry is $20 a week, you tip one horse in each race at the main Melbourne meeting, the value of your horses win and place dividends are added up and the person with the highest return at the end of the day wins the prize.
We are right into the Spring Carnival now and this is a great way to enjoy a raceday.
There's a prize for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and a bottle of red for whoever finishes last.
Join our Facebook Group called 'Melton Bloods Punting Competition' where you can find out more information, or contact Hursty or Jacko if you have any questions.
Lockdown Draw
Lockdown Draw 2.0 has finished. Thank you to everyone who purchased a ticket. Stay tuned for more fundraising and social news in coming weeks.
Transmission Lines Proposal – MacPherson Park
The Melton Football Netball Club are concerned about a proposal from Ausnet to build a 500kV overhead transmission line from Sydenham to Ballarat, with the investigation area including MacPherson Park as a potential location for these lines. We encourage our members to read more at https://www.westvictnp.com.au/ and share any concerns you have directly via their feedback link or with local politicians.
