Bloods Banter – Round 8 2017
Football and Netball Notes:
A good day for the club last week against Sebastopol with two and a half wins in the football and three in the netball. It was a good boost to the confidence for all to get some points on the board after a few lean weeks. One depressing note is the situation with the Under 18.5 competition, with many clubs struggling to find numbers. The Bloods for instance have several overage exemptions in place. We bring up a couple of lads from the Juniors and still have only one on the bench. Sebas on the other hand, even after similar efforts, started with just 17 players. One suggestion voiced on Saturday was to play 16-a-side so at least both teams would have a bench. Whatever the solution, direction has to come from the league. With all the good will in the world it can’t be negotiated between coaches at 9:30 on Saturday morning.
It was great to see the new Marty Busch Reserve. We are also looking forward to seeing the new facilities at Nth City this week. There are some proposals around for an upgrade to Maccy Park in the future and it was fantastic to see what can be achieved with appropriate levels of funding and council support.
Social and fundraising notes:
Mid Year Ball to be held at Westwaters in Caroline Springs on July 15th.
“Horse Racing Night” on July 1st at the Maccy Park Clubrooms after the East Point home game.
Women in Football Lunch is fast approaching on Friday July 21st. We have a few ladies already interested so if you wish to join in, then see Greg this week.
Memberships:
I know it is hard to believe but there are still some players who have not paid their 2017 memberships. These players seem happy enough to use our facilities, equipment, materials, coaches, trainers, support staff and volunteers yet can’t bring themselves to contribute to their sport.
10K Special effort:
To be held on Sunday 20th August at the clubrooms, tickets for this popular event are now available. See Rayza for terms and conditions. Syndicates are also on sale.
Canteen:
A big thanks to our hard working canteen staff on Saturday. It is great to see so many players helping out on Saturdays. Your work is noticed. Please also don’t forget the Thursday night meals. All funds raised support your club.
Q Lounge is offering Bloods supporters a $13 Parma and Pot deal. Rock in with some bloods apparel and enjoy.
Another little known deal is on offer from Choice Hotels. The Bloods have joined the Choice Sports Program who will give a 7% commission to the Club for all accommodation booked by our members and supporters for stays at Choice Hotels. In addition, the room rates given to our members, supporters and friends will also be discounted by up to 15% on the best available rate. Full details on our website.
