St Pats Under 12's footy is about developing young players. This means giving every player an opportunity through the training and game program to improve their footy skills while having a healthy and fun social involvement in a safe family-friendly environment.
Coach
2022 Under 12's coach: Tony Hill
Team manager: To be announced
Training
Training commences Wednesday 16 February 2022
U12's Training is Wednesday 3:45-4:45 pm
Xavier High School Oval, Fallon St Albury
Bring your best! Under 12's players are encouraged to have a footy in their hands as much as possible practicing marking, kicking, and handballs. Being active throughout the week helps to have the most fun at footy. More run-time - less-thumb time!
On Training days parents are encouraged to stay at the ground during training and assist the coaches with equipment, ball retrieval, and group organising. The more help, the more time your child will have a footy in their hands, improving their skills. It's also a great way to meet other parents and enjoy the camaraderie of our great club. Please help out where you can. Under 16's train after the 12's/14's so please pick up your player promptly after training.
Team Captains
Team captains will be selected by the coach. All players are encouraged to show their leadership qualities and work ethic throughout the season to be considered for a team leadership position. Leadership on the field does not depend on a formal title though, and all players are expected to demonstrate commitment to their teammates and good sportsmanship both on and off the field. Coaches may appoint one or more captains throughout the season as they see fit.
Team selection
All registered players will be allocated as much game time as circumstances permit. Limits apply to any team nominated for a match and this may require players to sit out for a game. Any absences for family or sporting commitments that are known at the start of the season should be communicated to the team manager or coach to ensure maximum participation opportunities for all players if rostering is required.
Coaches have the discretion to substitute and position the nominated team players on the field on game day.
The night before game day
Under 12's games start early so it's important to get a good nights sleep so you can play your best. Getting to bed at a reasonable time, having a good dinner and making sure your footy boots and mouthguard are clean and ready are all good habits to help you have a great game. Check with your parents that all your playing gear is ready and you have warm clothes for after the game if its cold.
Game Day
Players should arrive at the home or away ground at least 45 minutes before the game in order to change, warm-up and get a rev-up from Coach.
Players should arrive at grounds in club shirts and change into playing gear prior to running out.
Injuries/illness
Players who are injured or ill must advise their coach or team manager as soon as possible if they are unable to play in a forthcoming game. All players and spectators must comply with COVID safe plan.
Access to change rooms
Note that change rooms may be restricted in 2022 due to COVID Safe plans
Pre-game: Change rooms can be crowded and busy places before a game. Parents and siblings, please avoid lingering in change rooms if you don't have to be there and discuss any game-related issues with coaches early on game day or at training. Parents who are not coaching or committee members should only be in the change rooms attending their own child.
Post-game: Parents and supporters are welcome to join the post-game analysis, player awards and (hopefully) many renditions of the club song! Please allow the Under 14's to take the field before entering the rooms. The team and coaches should be applauded on the player raceway before supporters follow them into the rooms. Please do not crowd doorways and make way for the coaches to enter the rooms in a timely way with the team.
The AWJFL has a policy of no cameras in change rooms/showers which should be strictly adhered to by all supporters of our club.
Supporters
Supporters are most welcome at St Pat's to encourage all players regardless of ability and demonstrate good sportsmanship to our junior members. A range of supporters merchandise is available to purchase from the club to help spread the Green and White. Supporters are encouraged to watch all age groups.
